Montuno.......this is another "keeper" for me. I like the tune and I like the way your band presented it.

A question here. Is that you playing the piano ride in the middle of the song? It's really tasty. Doesn't reach out and smack you in the face. Smooth, gentle, part of the steady flow of music that makes this rendition so listenable. Horn player too....."sweet and gentle"

Wow, thanks so much Mark for listening to this after all these years. Yes, I recorded the piano part with a GEM digital that a friend lent me. The bass and percussion were just plain old auto accompaniment from a Tyros 2. The trumpet player was a neighbor of mine. He actually has played with some big names acts in the gospel and R&B circut but his jazz playing is pretty smokin’

I’ m glad you reminded out this track. I feel it’s unfinished. I’d like to go back and recorded a live bass and percussion section and maybe put a vocal too.

Paul....I'm an acute subscriber to the saying: "give credit where credit is due." That was really fine playing....your piano "ride"....it fit right into the slot. My version of the song is good but a little too aggressive.

Here's your song with tempo cut in half. I studied it to hear your jazz licks. Maybe someone else would like to hear what you were playing also.

I find it to be interesting that you share traits with others I've recently mentioned here........Don Mason, 124, Jim (Zuki) and anyone I left out. You're humble folks and you all generate good music and civility and warmth in personality. I'm wondering which comes first......the character traits or the good playing? Which leads to which?

"Good" doesn't mean a "hill of beans." It's how you connect with an audience. I'm very flashy with my music. I "connect"........but I'd rather be playing like Jim and Paul.
