Adding a Worstation To My Arsenal ?

Adding a Worstation To My Arsenal ? - 04/03/18 06:35 AM

I, like others, am a creature of habit, so much so that I forgot the beautiful textures, and expressive manner of full keyboard mode. For example, I am the principle lead in my band, and have been using the same old split keyboard mode. What I want to do is layer voices underneath another soloist, like piano and strings or a thousand different possibilities suitable for a song. Having static left and right voices isn't as good as playing ensemble and creating background movement.

So----
I know I can accomplish this with an arranger, but how easy and well ?
I have been looking at the Yamaha MOXF6 as a used, reasonable solution. I don't need a Motif or Kronus because of complexity, weight, and price.

Besides the band, I have dinners to play that might benefit from different ethereal voices, for example. Am I having another attack fo gear lust, or, does this idea have some merit from this august body?

Since I'm redoing my songs, I'm incorporating layers in my performances. It was a nice 'tip' on the octave change allowance for R/L/LOWER. Adds a whole new ballgame to my arrangements. Taking my time and doing it right smile

The Yamaha MX sure is inexpensive and does what you need. I think Beaky Bird got one, maybe he can chime in...

I have hundreds of songs I do, but I seem to use the old bread and butter acoustic voices. I think I will take a tip from you and concentrate more on embellishing my core sets like you are doing. It would also freshen them up for me.

I still would like some input regarding the MOXF or the like.

This is a model you can get for a great price. I believe is all you need for a 2nd keyboard, unless you want TOL.

Thank you for the suggestion. I never would have thought of it at that price point, after a quick look, I see it might be the answer for me. I will check it out further.

You might want to check with Beaky Bird (Larry). I think he got one for the same purpose you might have. Not really sure, haven't seen him around....
