Shipping/Receiving issues.

Shipping/Receiving issues. - 03/22/18 12:32 PM

I shipped a keyboard cross country with UPS. It was well packaged, in an SKB flight case within a cardboard keyboard shipper and insured.

The keyboard arrived at its destination with very minor damage(repaired)but of course UPS wouldn’t cover because they said it was in the wrong cardboard container(a keyboard cardboard shipper). Of course it was also in an ATA SKB flight case.

Local UPS shop helped me with initial packaging...did a great job and later told me that UPS rarely will cover damage they cause in shipping.

Guess I’m going to have to rethink shipping through UPS.

what kind of minor damage if it was well protected in box and case?

I sold my s910 to Scott L several months ago and shipped it by UPS only to arrive damaged. After a long hassle, an amount was agreed upon and I awaited my check. only deducting my freight, and the rest going to Scott. After a two week period, I called claims only to be told the check was sent. I never have had anything lost before, but they said they would send it to accounting for a new check. I have called several times and get the same answer," it is still in accounting".

They are committed to this amount, but the claim is dated 10/23/17. And on it goes, but I will not use UPS. The keyboard is fully functional, but has a damaged case. Scott has been patient, to say the least.

I know an instrument dealer who shipped via ups and had $5,000 plus claim with them. They gave them a run around and kept offerring much lower settlement amounts for over a year. They stuck to their guns and eventually got their money back. But putting in a legitimate claim with them is like suing a big company then battling their lawyers. They wear you down until you settle for less..took almost 2 years if I remember right.

I NEVER use UPS anymore. I got three straight keyboard shipments with obvious forklift holes punched in the side. Only one keyboard was damaged. I refused delivery and the shipper dealt with it.
I use the US Postal Service almost exclusively and have had zero problems. And they are less expensive. Even sent one to Canada and 1/3 the price of FedEx.

I stopped using UPS and FEDEX for the same reasons. I had my first Bose L1 PAS arrive with a forklift hold right through the middle of the box. The driver said if I open the box, I had to accept the damaged goods. I refused shipment. The second one came UPS with another forklift hole in the box, but it was high enough that I knew the amp would not have been hit so I accepted it. I called Bose and told them about this, and I think they only ship FEDEX now. My Ex son in law worked for UPS and told me they were notorious for this kind of problem.

you just can't compete with browsing online, watching a few you tube demo videos, read reviews, order it online, try it at home or send it back if you don't like it, they deliver it or pick it up at your door in or out.....done.

That said my first call is always Frank @ Audioworks CT best

This keyboard was shipped in an SKB hardshell case, which was packed in a cardboard shipper that was surrounded by bubble wrap.

The pkg had obviously been dropped as a piece came loose inside the keyboard. UPS didn’t deny the keyboard was damaged, there were pictures provided of the damage. UPS blamed the packaging.

I’ve pretty much lost all confidence shipping UPS. I didn’t know that postal service shipped large packages?

If you let FedEx/Kinko do the entire packaging, the onus is on them. Expensive, but no sleepless nights.
