DonM and other Country fans

There is a RAM Truck commercial that features a singer that I really like. Not being a Country music fan, I had no idea who it was or if it was somebody famous in Country music. I think the tune is a Bob Dylan tune (not sure) but it intrigued me enough to do some digging (aka 'googling'). The guy's name is Anderson East and apparently he is the boyfriend of Miranda Lambert (who I HAVE heard of). Just curious, is he a big name in Country music? Do YOU like him? Is this a special 'niche' in Country music? I'm just intrigued, that's all. BTW, he didn't look anything like I would have guessed from his singing style.

He's a new one for me. I listened to the commercial and to several of his songs, and he is about as country as Michael Jackson. I even like Thriller, but it's not country!
I don't listen to much of the new country for this reason. Not saying it isn't good music, but "it ain't country"!
His music has a good sound and the videos are well produced, but not really my cup of tea.
Miranda does get around, doesn't she?

Yeah, but his style IS sort of unique; I could see him leading a rousing Southern Baptist Gospel choir. Anyway, I sorta like him. Guess there's no accounting for taste . In any case, my tastes are pretty eclectic, go figure?

Reminds me a bit of 'soul music' (People get ready) and this tune also got me think about 'The Band'

When see CMA at TV, I was thinking the same as Don said above: 'it's not country!'
At that event there was a lady singer that was real country, but most of it was music I usually call Pop&Rock .....
.... and not even Pop&Rock is as it once was... They call it progress.
