A Tyros 4 question this time - 12/05/17 02:35 PM

I'm using the Tyros 4 speaker system with a Tyros 4 but the speaker system sounds a bit flat, is there some master Eq settings that can brighten the sounds?

Yes, just press the mixing console button, and tab to EQ.

Set the sliders only - the freq will take care of itself in mist instances. Set the sliders to:

EQ1 = 3
EQ2 = 2
EQ3 = 2
EQ4 = 3
EQ5 = 8

This will boost your drums and bass a bit, but not overpower the overall sound. EQ3 will provide you with a good, mellow vocal volume, while at the same time provide a boost to right hand voices such as piano, vibes, and other instruments in the mid range frequency area. EQ4 and 5 will provide you with some great sizzle for your guitars and high hat cymbals.

Hope this helps,

Is the Ts04 really just intended for home use ?

Hello MusicalMemories

Yes, those systems are mostly designed to be played at home, but, I know that couple friends have taken those systems and played in a living room home, that is more or less adequate.

Usually if you are playing out most likely to be in larger places, and there are many different types of amplification, passive, active, and also depends on the venue/size of the room, acoustics, how many people you are playing, if it is for dancing, or just listening....etc..
If it is Yamaha arranger, I recommend use stereo amplification, that sounds much better, since Yamaha samples in stereo.

My 2 Cents

Having not long had the Tyros 4 I'm still finding my feet with it and trying to get it to sound it's best. I play in nursing homes so smaller rooms but today I was in a larger room and the speaker system was struggling I do have a PA system but opted to use the Ts04 system. Lesson learned I guess

Yes, much too small for NH jobs of any size. You would be better off with either a Bose L1 Compact or Maui 5 system for those jobs.

I dunno Gar ... I've played many NHs with just the internal speakers of whatever I had at the time. (Still do, on occasion) I think almost any small monitor will do at least 1/2 of my venues. The Bose is icing on an already pretty sweet cake.

Dave, you must play some pretty small Nursing Homes, then. Most of the ones I performed at around my neck of the woods had audiences of 100 or more and the activity rooms were quite large. I know there are lots of smaller ones near Phili, and maybe the onboard speakers would work for them, but not around this neck of the woods.

Once you've adjusted the master Eq do you store in a your startup registration. One other thing how do you keep the volume levels between registrations constant as I'm finding in particular the keyboard sound levels change between registrations ?

I had the Tyros4 with that speaker system. I found it too small for anything other than playing at home.

Once you change the master EQ settings, they will remain in place until you either reset the OS or change them again. No need to store them.

The only reason the volume would change between registrations is that the volume was changed when the registration was made.

Hope this helps,

Gary
