Very possibly ... I just wish they let the guitar FX and Voice FX work at the same time, like the old PA80.
Still - it's tempting.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's the same vocal engine as the 900. The sliders would've been nice, and multi outs, but hey - it's got SPEAKERS!

Only advantage of the 1000 would be the lower weight if you don't need 76 keys. But you are right, I doubt too many PA4X users will switch to this.

Wow!!! Tempting. Woner if the key bed is dumbed down like the 900 (800 much better). No tilt screen, man do I need that feature. However, for small gigs and small speakers, hmmmm

Wonder what the price is?

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/01/17 10:31 PM

Speaking as a pianist, that "01 - Concert Grand" is rather muddy sounding. On the other hand 10 - Latin Flute has the kind of cha-cha sound I've been looking for since I bought my first car.

I'll probably never do it, but I could see me using that as a supplement/backup keyboard alongside my main axe with all those new styles and extra memory. Between the PA4x and what this 1000 brings to the table, you can't want for anything more.

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/01/17 11:56 PM

And then we get to the innevitable question: what are the differences between pa700 and pa1000?

So far, I've got:

memroy 600 vs 250 mb
dual player vs single player
tilt screen in pa1000
more buttons on the panel on pa1000
vocal harmonizer (btw is this the old pa2x/pa900 or is it the new pa3x/pa4x?) on pa1000
number of styles and sounds
more powerful speakers in pa1000
aftertouch vs no

What else?

More iumportant, does Pa700 have THE SAME quality of sounds and styles, apart numbers?

Maybe George can share more about these... Pa700 vs Pa1000...

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/02/17 01:42 AM

i'm also wondering about the main differences between the two models...i know i'll never use the vocal harmony,so in looking at the pa 700,but if its shown that the pa 1000 is significantly superior i'll plump for that....still early days yet...lots more research to do

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/02/17 07:59 AM

One change from the 900 to the 1000 is they have dropped STS as far as I can tell. They are now using what they call "keyboard sets" instead. So that will be at least a minor learning curve if you are upgrading.

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/02/17 08:56 AM

the PA1000 will have semi weighted keys and the 900 which it replaces does not. A big difference with the 700 over the 600 is 4 times more pcm rom making up the factory voices. That's the same claim the PA4X made over the PA3X and there is quite a difference in the quality of sounds in these boards.

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/02/17 11:26 AM

Adimatis asked: "More important, does Pa700 have THE SAME quality of sounds and styles, apart numbers?

My response: I've listened to all three models (Pa4X, Pa700, Pa1000) on SoundCloud, comparing the same sounds, styles and songs downloaded by Korg. The result, at least to my ears, is that the Pa4X sounded best. Second is the Pa1000, and then the Pa700. There isn't a big difference, but if you listen carefully, the Pa4X has a little more clarity and precision. You can hear each individual instrument clearer compared to the other two. I think this is how it ought to be. After all, those who pay more for the Pa4X should have better sound. smile

Thanks for the reply Dave. It looks to me like the keyboard sets will be saved as a part of the songbook entry so this might be an improvement over STS as you wouldn't have to edit the style.

You can do just about anything with a style, then save it in Songbook. No matter how much you edit it in there, the original style remains untouched.

Dave,
I received a PA700 vs PA1000 comparison sheet from Korg USA. I am copying and pasting the exact wording below. If It doesn't have the semi weighted keys than they've made a typo, but I don't think so. I will know soon enough. I should receive my 1000 hopefully by the end of Sept or beginning of October

Pa1000

61 semi–weighted keys (C2 – C7) with Velocity and Aftertouch
2 x that of Pa700
"Yes (For the Audio signal from Audio Input)
Full sample edit for imported/existing samples"
300 MB (Linear) 600 MB (w/Compression)
"Yes: TC Helicon® Three-parts Harmonizer
Double, De-esser"
"> 420 (TBD) preloaded Styles, freely reconfigurable
1,152 user locations including the User/Direct banks
Eight Style tracks, 4 Keyboard Sets, 4 Pads and one Style Setting per Style
Guitar Track 2 mode, Parallel and Fixed NTT Style Record
with Step Record, Track and Event Edit functions
"
"XDS Crossfade Dual Player (MIDI, KAR, MP3+lyrics, MP3+G)
with separate Select, Start/Stop, Home, Rewind and

"Double: MP3 Player and MP3 Recorder

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/02/17 10:05 PM

Thanks, I was thinking more pa700 vs pa1000... Yes, compared with Pa4x they should sound maybe a bit less "expensive", it is to be expected.

I did the same comparison years ago between Pa600-pa900-pa3x. And you're right.

Now the question is, the new pa700, with it's 4x increased memory, will it sound like to pa3x? smile That'd be already something. But that's a little bit of no sense question, as the sound difference between Pa600/Pa700 and Pa3x/Pa4x is also given by the final output converters. And probably the size of each sound sample.

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/03/17 06:11 AM

http://www.korg.com/us/products/synthesizers/pa1000/specifications.php

It has the chord sequencer, but no EC5 socket. .
lack of connection of an EC5 is easy to be compensated with an external, extensively configurable controller (also with USB controller as Nanocontrol).

EC5 - only adjustable globally - I always considered to be a less valuable tool. Maybe most Pa3x-player use EC5 fixed to 4 Fill-Ins und Break, because switches of EC5 only are adjustable in globals, ie permanently. Same occurs with original pedal/footswitch without possibility to adjust them individual for performances / kbdSets.
*
There would be the best opportunity to use flexibility to design a variety of music areas. Split points, chord recognition and many other functions could be used individually in Korgs Pa-models per performance (kbd-set), sb-entry or even in STS.

Only to use important tools globally is not useful in my opinion.
If it is also a pity that these functions were not included in any update of the Pa3x, it is almost thoughtlessly to ignore that in current model series.

Even worse with the latest model Pa1000 with VP-Presets and style performances are banished to globals, instead of possibility to use them variable within the kbd Sets

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 09/04/17 06:16 AM

What i find most interesting about the PA1000 is that you can connect an external keyboard via USB. The only other keyboard i know of that offers this capability is the Korg Kronos. This could be very useful for adding a piano-action lower board that lacks DIN MIDI ports (which is the way things seem to be going these days), or something like a Roland Aerophone wind controller.

As Donny always says..."don't be fooled" as in all manufacturers.. the higher end models have better samples and better converters.... besides features...and also hardware is better... and don't forget the better harmonizer ect..

The PA1000 simply replaces the PA900 as a new model... and the PA700 replaces the PA600 as a new model...... sounds familiar... Can we say Yamaha....

The Touch screen TILT up display, KAOSS which is awesome,
and TC harmony VH alone even if its the same makes it worth it to upgrade from the Pa900 the rest is just gravy..

I see no evidence that the harmonizer is any different from the 900 series. It's still only 3 voices, and not 4, like the 4x.
Has anyone read/heard anything different?

It is Ugly. The 700 looks better with more black. Of course not critical...when is Tony M selling his 900?

Features looks great, still I wish Korg will incorporate forward-facing speakers for smaller, intimate gigs similar to Casio's MX

laugh2 not anytime soon ...
I'm not a big change guy, sparky ... married to the same woman for almost 54 years ... in that time I've had 3 different houses -the current one (33 years) due to a job move out of state ... I've had only 4 keyboards since 1990 ... as long as it works I will stick with it ...
And RED ??? I know it's a color UD can't resist, but I don't know about that ...

Has upgrading your SV-1 to the Grandstage crossed your mind yet?

The grandstage is a huge upgrade... from the SV-1 for everything except the analogue tube..

Nope! Part of the attraction was the front panel interface and the lack of menu. I like that retro, funky, odd shape too. The Grandstage doesn't interest me.

I do understand, its the same reason i am attracted to the Nord... its a players instrument...

Altough i was under the impression that the grandstage tries to give you that same feeling..

You could use a Korg NanoPad in place of the FC5 - although not a foot change switching unit but the NanoPad may work instead!?
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz8LLCkdAyg on Youtube for the download and connection. Since it uses the USB connection and using the Korg Kontrol Editor to assign what you require it to do.
What do you guys think, would this work around the FC5 issue?

Re: New Korg Arrangers Pa700 - Pa1000 - 10/03/17 07:59 AM

When I had a PA900 I bought a small third party midi foot pedal that worked great. It had 6 buttons, and also had multiple banks if needed. I'm sure I still have it around here. I had forgotten about it after I sold the 900.
