Old info dating back to Januar and April..


For "me" Genos should be a cross between the Tyros5 and the Montage with some nice things from the Motif...


We could start with the Tyros 5

And then add the following things from the Montage
- dsp, 2 insert dsp/voice
- 8 keyboardparts
- high quallity alluminium build
- having arp's, and motion sequences for each keyboard part
- the incredible controll section 8 knobs, 9 sliders, superknob, 8(programmable scene buttons)
- having 2 version 76 and 88 key..
- audio over USB interface
- SSS, seamless sound switching
Or even improve on the Montage
- adding a bigger touchscreen with tilt
- 8 GB build in samples and 8 Gb user samples


And then take from the Motif
- pattern sequencer..
- daw integration (comtroll)

But also improve on the Tyros 5
- new synthworld expansion, much like organ world, but Based on emulation, with SC, CA, VL, FM and more.. not as huge as the FMX, but more in line with reface amd old expansion boards..
- organ world expansion, with 5 more organs, comming from the reface YC and another church organ
- piano room (from cvp) with high end SCM piano's and DP's
- 8 multipads instead of 4
- new improved style format. ( yet still backward compatible to old styles)
- build in drum engine..
- chordsequencer
- easy looper function
- many of the live knobs functions of the psr-s970
- hugely improved VH and Vocoder
- lighter and smaller then the current model..
- orchestral version of the ensemble function, with multi divisi..
- expansion managament onboard.. allowing you to store all your samples, styles songs etc directly on an ultrafast SSD...
- no more edditing on a laptop, but onboard, by the use of an external monitor, that has enough room to edit.. the monitor will also be usable as a high end sheetmusic reader and other things.
- 2 USB3 B ports, so you can connect to both a PC as wel as an Ipad at the same time.
- 256 or more polyphony


I think that pretty much sums everything Yamaha has inhouse... except for the new style engine, from which PJ has found some proof in the patent database..



Most important however... is a very easy accessible keyboard... with easy opperating on top... but an incredible depth under the hood.. which allows pro's to create new high end content and share it... and it allows the typical arranger player to make use of this content..

I guess I shouldn't have said New,.....instead just some information and thoughts which in no way probably mean anything as
NO ONE KNOWS anything at this point at all....

What if the Genos shows up (or under any other name) and turns out to be much more than just an expansion of what is already known----more this or that, more knobs, sliders, memory, etc. but, rather, introduces new features that no one has ever seen, heard, or thought about. Some kind of major breakthrough that catches players by surprise-----something never before seen in an arranger?

If that's the case oh baby get your check book ready lol. $$$

Some will like it, some will not...

For the average arranger player, ease of use of the feature is very important...

Unless I missed something, I see nothing "OFFICIAL" about the website. It is dedicated to Genos all right, but see no Yamaha sanction, just conjecture and wishful thinking.

You didnt miss anything, its based on a rumor from a Polish forum...

It doesnt say anything, espescially the fact that it says touch screen 90% shows that its not real information... if there is a November release then Yamaha made such a design allready in late 2015...

And if the information is true, maybe the representative stated that there would be no 61 key version, which is something different from only having a 76 key version..

So what we learn from this? Probably nothing

As kids we always looked at the Christmas presents under the tree all wrapped up wondering what was in the boxes?......

Yep, then after they played with the toys for 10 minutes, they built something like a fort with the boxes and had more fun in the fort.

Since folks are speculating about a keyboard that doesn't even exist yet, how about speculating on the price?

My price guess for this mystery arranger by Yamaha = $7,500 US list.

Probably the GENOS will be in the same area as the Tyros 5 in the mid $5000-6000K range and the GENOS Pro 76 a bit more.......

Still no clue why the Tyros is so expensive in the US, got my 76 model for €3500 and thats including taxes..

It allways gives me the feeling that somehow Yamaha US does not want to sell arrangers as they have to much invested in synthesizers..

In years past, I never liked the sound (overall) of the Tyros...and in years past I always thought Korg sounded too synthy..

Thus I prefer Roland..


Now watch and you will see what I mean..

PS: I put Ketron before Korg and Yamaha..

I wouldn't have said it in times past, but I'm semi-retired. It would be impossible to justify a 6 or 7 thousand dollar keyboard. The Tyros line is WAY overpriced, in my opinion.
I agree Ketron does sound good. So did my first ex-wife, but I couldn't depend on her either.

I dont think Roland will show a new arranger key on 20th of June, probably aira range stuff, like a system 8 rack version? Or maybe, maybe a workstation with ph-50 keybed and super natural, V and ACB technollogy...

Don't count Roland out, ....just sayin...

I think Roland has found that high end stuff does not make them as much money as the ea7 or the aira range..

How long ago was it that Roland showed us some real high end stuff, all their recent instruments (exception the rd2000) sells under $2000. Why? Well thats what most people find acceptable.

I'll be really excited when it stops raining here! I have to varnish the teak on the boat and the weather has to be dry for three days before I can do it. We haven't had more than one dry day in a month.

I just saw two tornado funnels as I was driving home from the golf course. Right now we're having 40 mph winds, bad lightening, hard rain and supposed to have hail up to 3 inches.

The bad stuff just missed us. 45,000 are out of power, at least one dead when tree fell on her car.
I'm pretty sure lightening hit in our back yard. We were on the patio when it hit, but I don't see any damage to trees or buildings. It may have hit the lightening rod on my storage building!
