Tony, I see why you guys liked those Technics so much; although they can't compete with the quality of today's sounds, they still sound fantastic to this day. That is one soulful lead voice (organ? - layered??). Great tune, too; one of my favorites. Glad to see you guys whipping out some of your old instrumentals.

The only people who should play that song are people with a lot of feeling.

chas ... that was one of the kn6000 organ voices ... it is layered with 'ooh voices' only for a chorus after the sax/ooh voices' part at about 3:30 ... Listening to it today, I realize that an expression pedal would have helped a lot ... And I really liked Gato Barbieri's version, which I modeled this after ...

Tony, while not a huge fan of that organ for the lead (I'm probably alone on that) I really enjoyed the great feeling you put into it. And was impressed with the style sounds of the Technic. Nice drums, bass, etc.
Can keep performing with the technic for many years to come yet.
Sounds very good.

See? This is what it's all about! A fabulous tune, performed (recorded, actually) with differing, but still very personal and sensitive interpretations. Tony, the light groove was refreshing and hit the spot. Fran, some of those runs were delicious...a great adaptation to the original lead line. This is the best I have ever heard from you!

Chas, I remember your version of Masquerade. I didn't save it, but i tried to play the song more like you did after that. Could you please post that tune again (I'll save it this time).

Thanks,

R.

I want the ol' fart to do "What are you doing the rest of my life". He gave us a teaser in that video that was just exquisite - now I want the whole thing smile. Besides Russ's version, I like Dusty Springfield's version best - but the tune is so beautiful, I'd probably like it by anybody that got the chords right smile. Russ, if you do choose to do it, guitar and vocal only, pleeeease.

Guys, I'm doing 30 hours a week in the studio, 24 hours a week in the club and running a communications business. I'll really try to lay something down soon. Actually, other than live play and the studio stuff (read that audio for video repair manuals for trucks)the last time I recorded something just to do it for myself was the hasty video I posted with "What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life?" 4 years ago or so.

I'd really rather back you guys. Making someone else sound good is really what does it for me.

Best personal regards, all.

Understood. But glad I kept that musical 'sampler'. I bring it up about once a month (for all the tunes, but especially for that clip). Oh, and stop working so hard.

Chas, let's resolve to get together early next year to record
this tune, another of my choosing and two of yours.

I can't think of a more enjoyable and meaningful musical career "landmark".

What a memory we'd create.

Best personal regards,

Russ
