He's the reason I started using a Flying V. Mine isn't equipped with a tremolo...that was his doing.

In rehearsal now with a tribute to Lonnie Mack planned with a Philharmonic from the area. He lived in Cincinnati for a long time (only 80 miles away), but I never met him.

One of my Rock N Roll inspirations, for sure.Played every song he ever recorded in my lounge (college) days.

I worked on a session in 1964 with a young Jimmy Page, and during a break he went to his rucksack and pulled out a 45 record of 'Memphis'. Myself and a couple of the other guys said, "Lonnie Mack? Who's that, fer crying out loud?"

Well, JP put it on this little Dansette record player, and we were all blown away. I even borrowed a friend's 335 for a couple of weeks and, well, that's why I'm a keyboards guy to this day. smile

Lonnie Mack, one of the greats for sure.
