Maybe a new 76 keys and an very small SD40 ? smile

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/06/16 04:23 AM

The module has the letter "S" printed on, so it's probably an SD.
As someone just posted, it will be an SD4 according to a FB hint. If you copy AJ's pic, the file name gives some clues, too.

The Audya is still the flagship, the SD9 will continue on from the SD7, but not replacing the Audya, it adds loads of functionality but will not have all the streaming content the Audya has

I think after 6 years it really is the audya replacement.... Ketron has had 6 years to perfect and improve the audya technollogy...

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/06/16 08:02 AM

Time will show they say ....

But,
I'm wondering about if this is more a audio "playback-karaokemachine" with arranger features, or is it a well equiped Arrangerkeyboard with audio playback features.....

Also noticed at the picture that the SD40 have buttons for 4 variations, 1 fill, 1 break and 1 start button. Where are the rest of the controls to f.ie. intro, more filltypes etc. hidden?
Have to take another look after cleaned my glasses. smile

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/06/16 08:49 AM

My prediction: regardless of what it is, they will show a prototype, then take several months of promised release dates, then release it, then start with the updates that should have been done before it was released. Give it a minimum of a full year before it begins to be ready for real time use.
This is not really a guess. This is what their track history shows, with both the Audya and the SD7 and the Midjay Pro.
I wish it were not this way, but I've given up on them. Life is too short at my age to be be a beta tester.
If I sound a little disgruntled, well, I am. I stuck with the Audya until it was finally ready, but gave up on the SD7 after having it six months without being able to depend on it, and without it doing things that were advertised and promoted...and promised.
Burn me once, your fault. Burn me twice, I should have know better. Burn me three times--it ain't gonna happen.
I sincerely wish AJ the best and hope he can get them straightened out. He works really hard at it.

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/06/16 12:34 PM

The SD9 Pro has exactly the same buttons/sliders and touchscreen interface as the SD7....

Differences so far, speakers, number of keys, wheels vs joystick..

It might actually just be an SD7 with 76 keys...
Posted by: Gunnar Jonny

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/06/16 01:41 PM

Guess the missing speakers and added 15 keys make it a PRO.

But,
it looks very nice, size seems OK, and maybe it's a great keyboard for those of us that mainly play by use of styles?
Speaking of styles, Ketron Italy are not too busy make addon styles, but AJ sure do a desent job for Ketron users.

Looking forward to more info, time will show. smile

I feel you are right... the same software of sd7 too. Is not a replacement of Audya, is a upgrade of SD7 series. I dont understand why ketron dont make the cromatic keyboard version... SD6 for example.

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 03:56 AM

Sorry Frank,

It looks more like an Audya upgrade to me:

...More than 600 internal drum loops. Audio drum with wav streaming and time stretching. 450 latin percussion grooves

...300 styles with audio drum and grooves. New live band styles. User style section. Midi drum mixer & Remap. 4 arranger ABCD. 4 fill. 4 break. 3 intro. 3 ending. Drum, groove, bass, chords 1-5, live Guitar, lower 1-2. Auto fill. Fill to arrange. To end. Reintro. Key start. Key stop. Restart. Pause. Count in. Drum boost. 4 voice set. Voice to ABCD. Voice & vari. 5 user tabs. V-tone.

...Interactive modeling library with massive audio drums, live guitars, bass, latin groove, piano, guitar and orchestral templates.

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 04:19 AM

1) Up to 128 recording bars in Style...

2) There’s more...you can also import into the
Modeling your own custom Midi sequences
to be handled within the arrangement. With
Modeling, style customisation has never been
so easy and creative.
Very Good!!!!!!!!!!!!

Audya replacement? Or an SD7 upgrade with major Audya technollogy?

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 04:37 AM

Fraid it leans much more to the Audya than to the SD7. I cannot imagine what more could be included in a newer version of the Audya...
Posted by: frankieve

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 04:53 AM

Its not going to have all the audio loops like guitars, and bass like the Audya, it's not an Audya replacement but the flagship in the SD line, since the SD1 was so succesful because of form factor and sounds, they decided to continue the legacy. It's not a clear cut higher model of the SD7, but I think a combination, of tricle down Audya stuff, with updated OS and touchscreen from the SD7. I love the form factor, and I think it's going to be the perfect blend.

Hopefully AJ has me on the prototype list, so I can give it a run

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 05:28 AM

Okay then. It would have been a real surprise getting a new SD9 PRO only to find out shortly that an actual new version of the Audya is now available.

I'd rather wait patiently for the newer Audya as that is going to be SOMETHING in the light of all of this. I was really hoping for audio human/choir voices and the new Audya might just have that.

Probably a good description of it. Very nice design. smile
I loved the SD1, unfornately I sold it to make room for Audya, but when Audya finally was to find in stores here, it was sooooo high priced that I could buy two other top end for that amount of $... The rest is history.

Hopefully we'll see some demoes and a manual for download in not too long.

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 08:48 AM

Likewise Henni,
It is a bummer to have a less than 1 year old SD7 to see it replaced by the SD9 Pro. I guess time will tell. I would be ok with a SD7 replacement if they offered the SD7 owners a serious styles and sounds upgrade too.

Frank, amy prices yet or delivery dates?

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 03:16 PM

It doesn't look like a replacement for the SD7, for a start it's 76 keys.

I got all excited when AJ suggested the new offerings would have less weight, only to find it's only 2 lbs lighter than the Audya, and at 36 lbs the same weight as the Korg PaX4 76.

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 03:22 PM

The light weight is certainly true for the SD40: 2 kg compared to 7 kg of the old SD3!

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 04:26 PM

Dear friends...
On SD9PRO we have:

2) 700mb Ram... In Audya we had 64mb up to 256mb with expansion memory....
3)New Import (user) midi file sequences in Modeling Styles... Very good!!!
3) 128 recording bars in Style....
4) 6 Sounds for each Program Sound and 600 Program Sounds... In Audya we had up to 4 Sound for each Program and 320 Programs....
5) 600 internal Audio Drums and 450 Percussion Stereo Groove... In Audya we had 370 Audio Drums and 62 Grooves..
6) A huge Library with more than 100 new
Audio Live Guitars... In Audya we had 159.... If we have the old and the new 100 Audio Guitars, now we have 259 Audio Guitars...
7) Possibility to create new Drums Kit with Custom Stereo Wav Files...
8) Surround 5.1 Wav Karaoke file (with stems group) like SD7
9) LAUNCHPAD.... Not I understood very well however I think is very good....
10) Optional internal hard drive can be installed
(Type SATA 2/3_ 2.5”) 500giga or SSD up to 240giga... Good!!!!

Some upgrades like the dsp chains and the launchpad seem huge... Also its 48 parts multitimbral..

Re: KETRON GETS VERY SERIOUS - AT FRANKFURT 2016!! - 04/07/16 10:22 PM

Your welcome!!....
Dear friend Bachus.....

Missing compared to thew Audya:
1) Key Tune Function (not important for me),
2) 197 notes Polyphony in Audya and SD9Pro 128,
3) Too many buttons less than Audya,
4) Sliders less than Audya,
5) 368 Preset Voices (single voices) SD9PRO and 430 Preset Voice in Audya...
6) SSD Card 16Giga SD9PRO but expandable in 500giga HD, or SSD up to 240giga, and Audya 80 Giga HD....
7) 300 Preset Styles in SD9PRO and 570 Preset Style in Audya, however we can to convert directly which style we want from Audya to SD9PRO... Its full compatibility with Audya....
In the first time, the Audya had 370 Preset styles, however with Upgrades get to 570 Preset Styles....

Thanks...

So it’s not an Audya replacement, but a model to bridge the gap between the SD7 & Audya.

If it is an Audya replacement, then the reduction of voices, styles, polyphony and real time controls is unforgivable, and not worth changing the Audya for.

Yes... I agree...
However now it's cannot coexist Sd9 and Audya in market, because the SD9 is too more fresh, and also have too more possibilities than Audya....
The pros of SD9PRO is too more:
1) User Audio Drums (single audio files) like Audya, and new Folder User Audio Drums like Factory Audio Drums of Audya...
2) 700mb Ram... In Audya we had 64mb up to 256mb with expansion memory....

And too more..... smile smile

Therefore.... Until to present from Ketron a new flagship, the Audya its impossible to remain the flagship of Ketron...
This is not strange if the SD9PRO it's not the new flagship???...
Must first present the flagship, and second the low model for the market and competition...

6) A huge Library with more than 100 new Audio Live Guitars...
10) Optional internal hard drive can be installed
(Type SATA 2/3_ 2.5”) 500giga or SSD up to 240giga... Good!!!!
11) DSP Effects.. Up to 10 programmable insert chains....
12) USB: 3 host + 1 device
13) Double player. Files recognized: Wav, Midi , Mp3, Mp4, Avi, Mov, Flv, Cdg, Jpg, Txt, Pdf...

And too more..... smile smile

Therefore.... Until to present from Ketron a new flagship, the Audya its impossible to remain the flagship of Ketron...
This is not strange if the SD9PRO it's not the new flagship???...
Must first present the flagship, and second the low model for the market and competition...

I think i would prefer the sd9pro over the audya any day based on the specs...

The only thing worrying me is 128 polyphony, with 48 parts multitimbral... But maybe its stereo polyphony, and i guess with the many audio parts, polyphony is much less an item then on other keyboards... From my view, in general its piano voices and anything else you play with damper pedals that soack up polyphony..

I think that just like the mz-x this new key shines when it comes to being a toolbox for creativity... An SD90pro module would be perfect for adding to a Kronos or Montage...

This all makes me wonder, taht when it comes to specs and sound, i keep falling for Ketron.. And want to get my hands dirty with it...

Still a little worried about right and lefthand sounds, and realtime controll, but that might be because i dont fully understand the userinterface...

While I cannot find any SD9 demo videos yet, someone on the German forum just told me he was at Musikmesse today and saw two SD9 on display there.

A note about polyphony...
My experience with Audya since 2009, taught to me that Audya series not need too much polyphony... Why??...
Because a very important channel (as is the Drums), it's a simple audio file and not Time slices that need midi key mapping to play, but its a simple wav file (as is a simple Song Wav File) and play with Time Stretch method directly from hard disk...
Therefore a very important channel as is the Drums, which requires more polyphonic, here not need polyphony to play...
The Audio Guitars, and Grooves play with Time Slice method (one or 2 bars)....
And dont forget that the Pa4x, and also Tyros 5 that its 2 tipycal Midi Arrangers, have 128 notes polyphony... In addition dont forget that Pa4x, can to use up to 128 Voices and up 128 Oscilators... However the Pa4x, play very good (in styles and play parallel) without any problem with polyphony.... I have here a Pa4x and I know that...
Dont forget also that, Ketron use per in voice up to 4 velocity layers and not all voices is with multilayers, (maybe in SD9PRO will have up to 6 velocity layers -- I mean GM voices and not Sounds/Programms that its Combinations of voices, and it not play in styles)....
Therefore the GM voices of Ketron is very simple and very (FRIENDLY) in polyphony because too many voices is 2 or 3 velocity layers and Drums is a simple wav file without polyphony...
How many time we use 48 parts??.. Mayde in a midi file??..
For me if I have a Midi part with 48 parts in a midi file, I will convert to MP3 and I play from there, or 5.1 Suround file (stems group) to have different control volume that its a very very good posibillity in SD7, and SD9PRO also....
Each style need as we know (Drums (Audio Drums here that not need polyphony),Percussions, Bass, and 5 Channels Chords... Its very simple in styles here....

The number of vellocity layers has no influence on polyphony... Because in general they dont overlap... Meaning, that depending on how hard you strike the key a different sample is played, yet in general only one sample is played, unless like with yamaha one of the layers contains articulations which indeed meeans an extra sample could be played... But when you talk about vellocity layers in general there is no overlapping.

Of it was only on display and not demoed, that explains why there are no video's yet...

Which also could mean it will take some time before the sd9pro goes on sale..

Yes you are right... But simply things complicated when we have many sound with more fx (like RX files in korg in many channels and more) and parallel we have live play with 3 or 4 sounds that its Combi/Performance..
Here is very Simple all...

Sorry if "on display" was unclear: the user actually touched an SD9 and tested its keybed, but I think he wasn't able to test any sounds. I've written a PM to him, hope to find out more.

Thanks...

Audya has 6 outputs SD9 only two

SD9 work with external power adaptor

Ok, he says there were two SD9 set up at the tradeshow booth, one for visitors and one in the back. The one he tested was mute, there were no speakers attached and no headphones available, but he remembers the display was lit. The keybed didn't make a good impression to him, obviously very unweighted.
EDIT: Also see the Musikmesse report in the Ketron section - possibly available this summer - that sounds better than expected...
