I had s970 for a month.
It's not that buttons are faulty. Everything was built with very poor quality. The buttons on the side of screen are too small. I mean, I could even close my eyes on that one, but not on how bad the keyboard feel is. One of the worst once I ever tried. Especially considering the price.

The buttons next to the screen slope down toward the display. Easy to push too close to the screen and have it not make a connection.

Yamaha should make a pro edition of the PSR-970!

- Better buttons
- Slimdown look
- Touch screen with button backup
- No speakers
- FSX keybed (current keys are not likable at all... useable, yes... likable, NO!)

They should get into a powerful small format speaker solution using the NEXO sound tools. Two satellites with a subwoofer like the computer speakers they use with the Tyros but more road worthy!!

Well I'd say as it might be nice for some players most of that is NEVER gonna happen on the
Psr S-line of arrangers anytime soon if at all as their popularity is immense worldwide already without it,..... personally I have no problem with the buttons and I love the lightweight keybed touch, the speakers are great for monitors, very small jobs, & practice. The LIVE Control Knobs are a super feature added on the S970,... There will always be some who want things that others don't that will never change,.... Some love a touch screen some don't care either way.
you just have to choose whats best for your needs in an arranger...if one doesn't have what you want there are other nice choices ....and even then things will change in a few years.

I have a Tyros 5-76 and went over to a friends house to try his PSR-970. I found the keyboard very poor but after playing a
T-5 with a quality keybed it was normal to notice that. Lloyd

No complaints here and no problems, as yet, with the S970. I play out several times a week with it. Prefer it much over the Tyros 5 for hauling around and small dinner parties. Just wish it had an onboard speaker system with the power and sound to rival my Bose setup. Wouldn’t that be something in a keyboard? Probably cost a fortune. Imagine being able to play live gigs without an external sound system, mixer, wires, and all the rest.
