G70 or some kind of VST?

Re: Style Demo - 08/18/15 02:06 PM

Not the G70, but G70 styles converted to Yamaha format..
Why? Conversion to Yamaha needed to use the $30 program One Man Band 10.1..
Although OMB comes with it's own wavetable, I am using another for smoothness
and balanced sound..

The sound is the Edirol PC80 synth, only available when connected via USB
to the PC 80 controller..and a laptop..
The PC 80 synth is 256 polyphony, and comes with editing software..

I recorded the demo styles as default factory G70 styles, converted
to Yamaha format..No edits, balancing, or program changes..

The Edirol PC80 was purchased as close out .. new in the box..$199..

One cable (USB) connects the keyboard and laptop..PC80 has a mic input
and can use effects from MixCraft6..There are stereo outs and sub out on the PC80.

This was recorded directly from the PC80 via the Tascam DR-07..No editing.

I think overall the results are excellent and on par with most mid priced arrangers.

Software arrangers are not as simplified (easy to use) as dedicated keyboard
arrangers...but being able to use different VST's for any of the parts
can be interesting..

The software concept works for me, as I don't rely on style play only..
only for request on the spur of
the moment..SMF's work best for me, and give better performance results..

Someday I would like to try Dan's Varranger with a Roland wavetable..

Re: Style Demo - 08/19/15 05:37 AM

would that synth also work with an old Edirol PCR 800 i have laying around here?

Re: Style Demo - 08/19/15 05:45 AM

Nice try smile

vArranger can play directly without any conversion Roland styles. (and Ketron, Yamaha and Korg styles too)

It also come with a nice virtual synthesizer + VST that can play well with your PC80 internal audio card

I am now adding the possibility to have 4 different sample set for each style brand, so you can use some samples for yamaha styles, some for roland...

Bachus...the pc80 synth only functions when the pc80 is connected..Once connected.. The synth can be used by other programs and keyboards..

Dan..very interesting.
If I intended to use software only, I would be trying your program..

I wish there was a user close to me, that I may check it out..

Any future demmo download coming soon?
I have owned and used several other arranger programs..all had things that bugged me...collectively they could have been a good arranger.....maybe your product does the job..

Thats a very nice feature Dan, people will love you even more for that..

What other things are currently on top of your longlist with upcomming features?

I think having supprt for pads, both audio as midi would be a nice one, it really adds a lot to the styles, or is your structure limited to the 16 tracks because modules only have 1 midi port? With software based soundsources, that limitation would belong to the past..

Re: Style Demo - 08/19/15 08:40 AM

I will add 16 audio pads soon, but they will just triggers some wav or mp3, not in sync with the midi style

I need personnaly to sometimes add some audio jingles or loops on top of my playing, so will do it for all vArranger community too smile

I think thats a first step, and making steps continously has taken your project where it is right now, in a very good position.. good to hear, and maybe we will see more steps in the future..

Just recorded something...
This is at very beta stage...
You can hear in order some Yamaha then Roland then Korg then Ketron styles. Without any sound module...

Dan,are you using Extreme converter software to capture the sample?
Are you capturing the full samples with multi velocity switching?
Will you be able to use your sound bank in stand alone.
Are the banks GM2 compliant?

There is some very good sounds in there...and offcourse some styles that need a lot of tweaking... But with those 4 own soundsets, it will be truely a full software solution setting another step..
