Donny, the VH really sounded robotic, at least to me. I suspect that it was either his singing technique, or the settings he he used - just not at all good.

But Gary so many claim the Roland is the best VH?

I'm just going by what I heard, Donny. It may have nothing to do with the harmonizer itself, but as I stated, maybe it was his singing technique, or possibly the settings he used.

Boy after all this VH baloney,...I don't even wanna use it ever again live omb style, to hokey, robotic, fake, or whatever,...
unless I'm recording in the studio where it makes sense separate voices seperate tracks.

I use mine (TC Harmony-M) very sparingly in combination with the S-950's reverb and it really adds to some songs. For the most part, it's not used in the vast majority of the songs I perform regularly. I suspect that it could be detrimental when overused, which some folks have the tendency to do.

Could I live without it? Absolutely, but I chose not to. It's a neat device that provides some diversity to a lot of songs, so I'll continue to use it for the next couple months.

Sometime about mid September I will be listing all the gear I will be selling, which is a pretty substantial compilation that includes one of my Custom, lighted Consoles with an attached Harmony-M and 9-inch display laptop, power supplies, etc..., all painted and shiny new - never used on the job - just one of my many backups. Can't have too many backups I always say.

Cheers,

Gary and Donny,

I did a little section of "Peaceful" to demonstrate the sound from my Digitech. On the "ooh, ooh, ooh" section I purposely did 3 repeats. The first one was with no harmony. The other two are with harmony like the Eagles. I wanted to show that a decent harmonizer can indeed spice up your sound.

Check out my Temptations post.

Thanks Gary,

I've been very pleased with my Digitech Harmonizer but always willing to listen to what else is out there. Haven't heard anything better yet.

God Bless,

If you want to be disappointed with a VH try recording the harmony on separate tracks Ugh. As soon as you bring in the lead it masks the sound of the harmony. I'm just doing an experiment and I'll post it later today.

In the meantime have a peaceful day (Who write's this crap)

That's a clever harmonizer sounds just like the Eagles apart from the old codger singing lead.

Old Codger sounded pretty good and that was quite a realistic backing track.

Just Fran. I never heard anyone else sing the Roland vocal praises. I never thought it measured up.
