Neat! This guy plays a lot of the modern stuff that DNJ keeps talking about - stuff that I will likely never play, though.

Thanks Mike,

I guess many of you were right especially Paul & Tony
about being "KB Naked" ;)The Yamaha S670 is more then what I need for my musical arranger KB needs right now.
I never sing thru my kb & always use an outside Mic processing source for vocals. This should fill the bill. I'll know tomorrow when it arrives. cool2

Thanx everyone for your suggestions.. keys

Congrats, Donny! Hope you like it! The sound quality is very similar to the higher-priced PSR-S775/975. Enjoy it. smile

Congrats Donny. I had a S750 and it was a good board so I think you will like the 670.

Re: New Yamaha PSR-S670 Demo - 02/27/19 10:54 AM

PSR-S670 seems like a successful product. I speculate that Yamaha would've never made such a powerful keyboard in this price range if Korg hadn't pressured them with products like PA300.

Previous keyboards like PSR-S650 and PSR-S550 were much less usable in my opinion, while KORG was offering better polyphony and a touch screen.

Yamaha released years ago PSR-550, which was an entry-level keyboard with a very powerful user interface, and they kept producing it for a quite a long time. Now they keep PSR-S670 on the market longer than other products and it sells very well.

Yamaha still protects their more expensive keyboards, so they made PSR-S670 without buttons at the screen making the navigation less convenient, but there's no obvious barrier to use it to its fullest, unlike it was with previous models, and it does seem like this time Yamaha did steal some popularity from their own TOTL arrangers in order to fight offers from other companies.

Thanx everyone, .....being so familiar with Yamaha arrangers I am sure I will set it up to sound as good as my S970 for sure..
all my setups, Reg, Custom styles are saved and ready.
no need to go for a Genos. wink

There is no mistaken the S670 for a Genos, or even a Tyros smile

That being said, it is perfect for you.. You won't lose a lot of money when/if you sell it.. You usually lose the cost of the s 670 ($600- $700 ) when you sell your high end models.. grin

The s670 will allow you to input midi and audio data into MixCraft.. You can record songs using the style play as midi data, then assign vst's to parts that need better sounds , like drums, ep and acoustic piano. other parts like guitar you can retain Yamaha sounds via external sound device setting in MixCraft.. Then mix in MixCraft , add quality effects from MixCraft, and mix down as audio files when you are finished.... Let me know if you need help setting up..

Re: New Yamaha PSR-S670 Demo - 03/10/19 12:48 PM

I tried S670 yesterday again at store and it seemed again like a great deal. It sounds like it has a lot of "S.Art!" voices from 700/900 series, but without "S.Art!" algorithms. Comparing to PSR-S950 it sounded rather close overall.

I also tried Korg PA-1000 and a little bit PA4X (oriental version). I'm not going to say that S670 sounds the same or better, but with Korg I was expecting something like "just touch it to know the difference" given its cost, and I didn't come to a certain conclusion. But I guess a more accurate look may reveal a lot of nuances.

In the end I have to conclude that any keyboard demands a real amount of time to get focused on it, after that it gets really usable rather than just entertaining.
