WK-7600 from CASIO, a pro keyboard for 400 euro?

I just bumped into this keyboard in a department store this morning.. Never touched one, so i gave it a quick drive...



I think i was amazed, keyboard quallity certainly was very acceptable and very playable, i even preferred it to the PSR-S models.. and piano sounds, drawbar organ sounds and synth sounds even give the Tyros a run for its money...

On top of sampled sounds it also has an Organ emulator and a VA synth under the hood..


I think for that kind of money, you cant go wrong with this keyboard, it is very much underestimated..

Yes I agree. I have a XW P1 not really an arranger but it sounds and play great. I even get rid of my Korg PA600 for it. Now I am waiting for the next Casio arranger and hoping they have 4 fills.

Oo, i missed that one a post of two years ago, dont you think casio deserves a bit more attention overhere? They obviously reign the below €500 market supremely...

And if they keep going at this rate and combine everything they offer in AP800, PX-5S, XW-P1, XW-G1 and WK7600.. Then add their latest new developed features and decent DAW and VST controll in their upcomming stagepiano workstation, and keep the weight low and the price under €1500 then they have a winner that can compete with any stagepiano, synth-workstation or totl arranger...

I think Casio will be surprising all and everyone next year...

The P1 actually gets rave reviews with its Hex, PCM, organ and Va-synth sound engines... Does the stepsequencer follow chordchanges?

Yes. It is really fun to play with it. I missed that fun with the Korg.

My issues with the WK-7600 are no MIDI, and no control for chord memory or "sync stop." Once the style starts, the only way you can stop it is by triggering an ending, fade, or stop the style cold. I can't understand why this basic feature was omitted. Also the keys don't appear to be durable. I have seen a few of these with keybed failures in my local music store. Yamaha's entry-level models appear to be better built.

Casio KNOWS how to build a good arranger, but so far they haven't matched their effort of a decade ago with the MZ-2000. We'll see!

I have one. For the money it does as much as the big boys does. I wanted a 76 note keyboard that was an arranger . Yamaha has them , but I need editable styles, and being able to create styles from scratch . I have an old psr 1000 that I can create styles on, this Casio is 64 note polyphony , sd card , mic and inst. input. For 450.00 not bad.
Now the cons for me.
1. Instrument sounds are a little below being good. Could be better
2. No way to live mix you styles or mix the lead instrument with styles. You have to style program and save as a user . Can,t do that on stage like I did with the korg and Yamaha.
3,. The audio recorder is not that good , it freezes up. A laptop is way more efficient . MIDI sequencer is ok
4. The way they labeled the panels are very hard to read on stage.
However , if Casio would step up their quality , I might consider the next model.
Now what I like about it
Acceptable piano
Better bass than my Yamaha
Better drums, more choices
Nice organ which I midi up to my iPad (garage band) it has a killer b3 too.
Styles are not bad, but very tweak able. Mike nickloson has some excellent videos on this model and others on YouTube. Just do a search.
And finally if you have a dinner set or light jazz gig , this keyboard would do a fine job. It's just not as flexible as the more expensive models but then again, you get what you pay for
