like a timex watch it just keeps on ticking....
yes there are a few features that can be improved but overall with some workarounds it sounds terrific & a pleasure to transport.

I already have a PA900. Since I will be getting a Ketron soon, I won't need two of them for sure. I do like the Korg a lot though. Sorry it didn't work out for Cass.

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/12/15 09:10 AM

It's up on eBay. It's all packed up cuz I thought I'd be sending it back, but decided I didn't want to pay $200 restock fee - they didn't carry any s950.

I'm playing Thursday, so I'm boning up on the BK7m with my Hammond. If it works as I like, I might just go that way for a while. We'll see.

Well, Donny, you got it half right. I packed up the Hammond and my BK7m and went out to one of my fav assisted living venues. Results were very positive. I really enjoyed playing the Sk1; I've been wanting to do that since I bought. Despite the limitations of the buttons dials and screen of the BK, it was quite easy to navigate. Soundwise, I was in heaven with my real drawbars and the Roland rhythm section. If I don't find an s950 soon, this could become my standard setup.

BTW, The Pa900 is up on eBay starting at $1475 plus $50 shipping. What a buy! Look for - angel504u. Or contact me now and I'll close the auction and we'll do $1500 shipped

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/15/15 09:57 AM

BK7 is hard to beat actually. My ONLY problem with it was having to carry too much peripheral gear, such as screen for text, vocal harmonizer, midi cables, etc.
Cass, didn't you get that BK7 from me?

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/19/15 03:53 AM

Sorry , Tom but I've had three G70s. I think that's enough for me. Now if it was a BK9...

Don, I did get it from you. I'm doing another job with it this week. Yes, it does require more setup than a single keyboard, but the results are excellent.

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/19/15 08:19 AM

Yes they are. I was listening yesterday to some recordings of myself that I made using it and it blew me away. Even makes ME sound good.
I had that Edirol controller totally programmed to use with the BK7m too.
I tried BK9 for 3 weeks and it was even better, but many of the same problems as far as peripheral gear needed. PLUS, Roland still does not have an effective Break/fill, which I use a lot.
I'm looking forward to getting the new Ketron, and I love the PA900, but wouldn't mind having a BK9 just for kicks. Not gonna happen here but I think one could set up the BK9 with an Ipad and have a killer rig.
I'm just at the point where I demand that everything be in one package. I'm basically playing every Friday and Saturday, and don't leave my gear set up all the time like I used to do, so quicker and simpler is the goal.
I think with the SD7 I'll just have the keyboard, stand, two mics and two Bose Compacts--no mixer, laptop, etc., needed. I seem to often need a guest mic and hate to run it directly to the Bose with no effects, so the second input on SD7 should solve that problem. We'll see!

Side note: I had a guy wanting to sing a song for his girlfriend last week, and so I said sure, let me plug in a mic for you. He said, "oh I can just use yours". He had a runny nose and was coughing every other breath. I said "no, it will only take a few seconds and I wouldn't want to give you my cold!"
Most people don't understand but using my mic is too much like kissing me on the mouth!

I'm eager to hear more when you get the SD7 also Don,.......
secondly, why hasn't Ketron posted MORE Video demos aside from Musikmesse showing us MORE of the features of the SD7? ......this worries me at this time but that could change also..this is marketing 101......show the people your product and if it is good enough they will buy it in droves,.....I'm glad I didn't jump the gun on the SD7 & will be in a holding pattern until I am sure what it really can do for my needs or not. I wish you luck.

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/19/15 08:44 AM

smile To put this in perspective, think about all the folks who go to karaoke bars and use the same mic as everyone else, all night long. UGH! My sister and brother in law are always asking me to join them at the local American Legion on Friday nights when they have Karaoke, and I turn them down - EVERY TIME! After a couple years, they finally stopped asking.

I keep a container of sterilizing wipes in my van at all times. Every time I leave a public place, grocery store, etc..., places where I have to touch something that every person in the store touched, I wipe my hands with the wipes. You would be amazed at how this has decreased the number of colds I've experienced every year. Probably the nastiest thing we touch during our daily lives is door handles, and the handles of cold boxes in grocery stores. When I worked for BJ's Wholesale Club many years ago, I asked the manager if those handles ever get wiped with disinfectant? His response was "Why?" I guess I must have made a point to him, because after our conversation they began wiping the cold box fronts once a week.

Good move, Don,

You are so right. I provide two mics for my Karaoke shows, and am wiping them down all the time. Even with that, some singers "eat the mic" even though I provide ample headroom. It makes me cringe every time.

KARMA SALE - I have not any luck with selling the Pa900. I've relisted it on eBay, but MAKE ME AN OFFER.

On the other front, I've repurchased an s950, but haven't gotten any word on shipping from the seller. Will this ever end?

Meanwhile the BK7 and SK1 will make another appearance on Thursday. It's not all bad...

Cass welcome back to Yamaha!! clap I think if you REALLY Dig Into the S950 OS and it's workings, MFD, setup registrations, editing styles, etc, etc,...you can make it work for you even with some workarounds.
If you need help just ask. For now you made a wise decision & a lesson learned. Maybe down the road things will change with new models but for now enjoy the S950. keys

The month-long s950-Pa900 saga is almost over. I sold and shipped the Pa today and am awaiting a replacement s950 on Tuesday. Through luck and some financial breaks it looks like I'll almost break even in this mess. Thanks for putting up with my BS.

Donny, this may be my last year on stage. I just got my MRI reports from the radiologist today. I have 4 herniated discs and stenosis of the foraminal openings in a half dozen locations. It ain't pretty. I'll know more next Wednesday when I meet with another surgeon.

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/23/15 02:45 PM

Cass, that big-ass sailboat I have goes fairly slow, no bouncing around or rocking unless the seas get to 6 feet or more, easy to sail, and no lifting. Now, I have to hoist the main sail, but that does not involve lifting - just pulling straight down on a halyard, which is the opposite of lifting.

The toughest thing I do every day is unload and load the equipment from the van and set it up. Nothing is really heavy, but the keyboard, in the case, tips the scales at about 35 pounds, and it is somewhat bulky. Then, after an hour of sitting in the chair and performing, the compression of the herniated discs make my legs stop functioning. It usually takes about two to four minutes after getting up from the stool before the damned legs act like they should, plus the back pain is sometimes to the point of excruciating. Unfortunately, I cannot take a morphine pill until I get home - just too dangerous.

Hopefully, the surgeon I visit with on Wednesday can provide some light at the end of the tunnel - I sure could use it.

Until then, booze and drugs are the only option. I like the booze, but the drugs suck! wink

Re: SPECIAL 16 hr. SALE - PA900... One chance only. - 05/24/15 05:46 PM

I have to say that the Pa900 is a fantastic arranger keyboard. At this time in my life I have no desire to learn a new OS or go thru and setup another keyboard. I would have to say that my limited experience with the 900 tells me it is equally as good as the s950 and probably a couple other current boards out there. It IS great that there are choices to suit many preferences. Some need a monster board, some can get by with small master keyboard. Most of us seem to settle for the MOTL boards because of their value and flexibility. I am so happy that we no longer have those stupid pissing contests we used to have about which board is better. They're all better, especially in the right hands...

Get yourself a Teeter inversion table. They build them over there. Then hang from your ankles twice a day, 15 min at a time. DON'T let them cut you. You'll regret after a year or so...
