Quick CD for Demo

Quick CD for Demo - 02/27/15 09:28 AM

Hi Guys

Just after Christmas I was asked to provide the entertainment at a local National farmers Union Ladies lunch party and the organizer asked if I had any Demo's they could listen to, I hadn't, so I got stuck in and recorded this selection.

Being a kindly soul I thought I would share it with you. It was recorded using backing tracks some of which were created from midi files on the G70 and some were commercial tracks. Most of my previous offerings were recorded using styles and it took a while to get used to singing over tracks (They don't wait for you mad )

It is as near a live performance as I could get as you can tell from a few pitch problems. The harmony is courtesy of the Voice Live Touch 2 by sending the backing track into the VLT Aux input to trigger the harmony, all recorded one hit on the Zoom R16. The whole lot was recorded in couple of hours. I was reasonably pleased with the outcome.

Hi Col,

Will reply in detail later on but just in case you are wondering why there are so few replies here so far:
I have a very fast internet connection but despite that fact it took me about one full hour to download your 71Mb file !!!!!
In this day and age of speed and instant gratification not many will have the patience etc.etc.

As my new CD is in the final stages I had been thinking of making it available for all and sundry the same way you did, but now I think " Wetransfer " may be the better option.
I am going to do a little experiment with my previous home made CD, see new thread : " Download CD ".

kind regards,
John Smies

You are correct Fozzie, the problem seems to be my computer.
On my wife's computer it took about two minutes..............
apparently it has something to do with my Firewall ( I am using windows 7) anyone who can help I would appreciate a mail to pasounds@zeelandnet.nl.

I don't think it fair to do so here as it would be hijacking Col's thread which I think should be exclusive to responses to his CD efforts.

regards,
JOhn

Or, hover over a selection and play instantly. I thought they were very good.

Col ... It's no wonder you got the job ... that playlist is perfect for the venue ... You've come a long way in controlling the harmonies and fx ... best of luck going forward ...
And thanks for reminding me about "If I said you have a beautiful body" ... grin

Good playlist, Col - looks a lot like my playlist, only much smaller.

All the best,

The songs I listened to sound very good. Maybe back off a little on using harmony on some. I want to hear your voice.
By the way, it's pronounced "Share A-Me-O" (in Jambalaya). Hank Williams just stuck the O on there so it would rhyme.
The translation is Cher ami which is Cajun French. Hank was referring to the woman in the song. He was saying that he was going see his dear love. Though similar to the Parisian Cher ami meaning dear friend, to a Cajun Sha is friend and Cher is love. So the translation is Cher ami-o meaning dear love.

Of course Hank pronounced Thibodaux as Tippy-To, and Fonteneau as Fountain-O, so it really doesn't matter! smile
Just trying to be helpful. When I moved to Louisiana 36 years ago, I was quickly corrected as to how to sing this song!

Cheers' Don

When you come from Lancashire, as I do, the local accent tends to bleed through so authenticity tends to take a back seat. I'm slowly (slowly) weaning myself off the harmony but as I'm sure you are aware old dogs and new tricks don't always go together.

All the best
