I hope you have a couple of Italian favs ready ... I have a number of them, but these are usually pretty popular - Al Di La; Volare; O Sole Mio; Return to Sorrento ... (Elvis had versions of the last two - It's Now or Never; Surrender - )
I LOVE playing at Italian restaurants!!!

Eric, coming back feels so good, give it all you’ve got. You’re coming back to doing what most of the people here do not want to give up. The best to you.

Why did you leave? (May I ask?)

Good luck Eric...I'm considering returning to "live" performance in the spring, and it's heartening (and encouraging) to see someone else doing the same.

Thank you all so much for your wishes.
Was a little nervous at first and made a few mistakes, but I think I must have done something right.
Some people were dancing... smile
The Bose and VoiceLive 2 sounded great. Got some compliments smile
The owner wants me back every week and in the Summer with modern Dance music to attract some younger crowds. Got a few tunes for that.
I am booked for next week already.... laugh
I guess now I have to learn some Italian songs...
Thanks again guys.
Off to bed now.

Hi John,
The answer is simple:
Moved to a new City 15 years ago. My wife and are working full time including weekends.
With a busy schedule and only few weekends to us, we put gigging on the back burner.
Last week we talked to the owner of our favorite Italian restaurant, one thing led to another and before I realized what happened, I had a gig surprised
There you have it. smile

That is fantastic Eric. Where is the restaurant, is it in Ventura?

Hi Nigel,
It is the guy who had "Sicily" next to the Movie Theater on Main Street.
He moved next to the Clock Tower on 185 E Santa Clara.
It is now called "Padrino's"
He is a real Italian from Rome. He food is great...
I'll be playing again next Friday wink

I'd love to catch you. I don't get home from work until around 8.30PM, what time are you playing?

Re: First Gig after 15 years... - 01/10/15 05:44 PM

Donny, I am still a bit nervous playing and make a few mistakes... I will video tape as I get better wink

Nigel, I will start around 6pm to possibly 9pm.
You can always call the Restaurant to see how long they are open. I think Friday might be 10pm.
Eric

P.S. I will be playing for a big anniversary at a car museum next Saturday.
It is a friend of mine. There will be around 200 people.
I will DJ first and then play live...

Eric the more you play the more confidence and experience you develop on stage live......didn't mean to pressure you, I just enjoy watching & listening to performers,....I've learned many valuable things doing that throughout my career.
Good luck to you !

Eric, I have the utmost confidence in your abilities to get the job done, effectively and efficiently. As DNJ said, the more you perform, the more confidence you will gain. I've stepped in front of audiences to 1,200 rowdy people, never blinked, kicked off with some $hit kickin' country and went from there. After a while you'll look back at the past week and say to yourself, this is a piece of cake.

Go for it,

Thanks guys,
I appreciate your encouraging words. smile
Donny, no worries, I did not feel pressured wink
Like you I enjoy others perform as well...
Thank God, our little community has lots of Life music on the weekends everywhere...
Music is just awesome. Whether I play or listen to others.
Always puts me in a good mood. laugh
