You have that right T! Wife and I went to see Chris Botti last night and 45 min into the act, an elderly lady 3 rows up had a heart attack. The show was halted, Botti asked for doctor. They tended to her for 15 min (on the floor). Finally, Botti (band and he just hanging around on stage talking) asked if we wanted to take a break. So, the lights came on and we went home. Wife said it would take 30-45 mn when the ambulance arrived to stabilize her.

Disappointing concert. Knew we were in trouble when he started out with a Miles song and decided to basically freelance most of the night. He only did (2) numbers with that foxy violinist (wow and dbl wow looks) that were on the symphony side. His Motif player replaced the orchestra and it was THAT GOOD - what a board. His acoustic player was world class, but too much showoff for me (up and down and up and down and more - went on forever.

They were sloppy at first since they just came off a 3 1/2 week vacation. Lots of missed notes by highly trained musicians. Now I don't feel so bad. It is ok to make mistakes....

Nah, we still saw 45 min and the invitation that he was to play a lot more.... was our decision to go (2 1/2 hour drive). I absolutely love Botti. His albums are unreal, using a bunch of different singers, etc. I was expecting that soft side, not 3 guys improvising for 10 min (bass/acous pia/Botti). Guitar player was in a daze on his 1st solo, almost like he was high. Botti kept checking him out as I squirmed in my seat (talk about missed notes-something I wouldn't have expected). I thought Botti's trumpet was way too high volume, but he likes that (His favorites, btw, are Miles Davis and John Coltrane). Their jamming was amazing musicianship, but just wasn't in the mood. Even their dress started to bother me (God, getting old).

Saw Botti in Providence a couple of years ago and he was GREAT ... hung out in the lobby after the show for pics and autographs ...
