Tyros 5 Is In The House

Today Santa knocked on my door and left me a brand new shiny Yamaha Tyros 5-61. I've spent most of the day with it - did the OS upgrade, loaded the MFD file, loaded everything from my Tyros 4 backup and my S950 onto the Tyros 5, and auditioned almost all of the on-board styles. So far all the styles I loaded play well with no OTS tweaks needed and I could gig with it tomorrow if needed. I won't express an opinion or write a review until I know more about the keyboard. If you are an organ enthusiast you are going to love the Organ World feature. Haven't messed with the Ensemble feature yet. More will come later.

Hi Deane, congratulations on taking delivery of your Tyros 5-61 today.
Looks like a 'red letter' day for both of us as I received mine today too.

Though T5-61's only a mere pound lighter than Tyros 4 I sensed right away T5 feeling lighter than T4 when I picked it up.

Tyros 4 - 61 note: 14.5 kg (31.97 lbs)
Tyros 5 - 61 note: 14.0 kg (30.86 lbs)

Weight Differemce: 0.5 kg ( 1.11 lbs)

Yes, I still have the S950 and also a BK-9. Not sure if I will keep them or not. The T5 is sounding pretty darn good.
