Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind? - 12/13/13 08:55 AM
I'm leaving for Ft. Worth for the annual Christmas party that I play for at Shady Oaks Country Club. It's my best job of the year.
For you golfers, the ghost of Mr. Hogan walks the halls. His old locker, filled with his clothes, clubs, balls, tees, coins, etc., is just the way he left it. Sort of eerie, but neat to see.
I believe it will be too cold to play golf this weekend though. They always invite me to play, expenses paid! I always say I'll come back when the weather is nicer, but I never seem to get around to it. It's about a four-hour drive from here, and all the way across Dallas and on Friday that's not pleasant!

Not sure which room. They changed it from last year, but I believe it IS the one overlooking the course.

Don, make them include a room for you and Susan and spend a day or two there but not in July or August. Passing through there years ago on the way to New Orleans before I met you it was the hottest city that I've ever spent a day in. I would never believe that it would get to 111 degrees but it did. I don't even remember there ever being a 100 degrees in New Orleans. The hottest I remember in NO is 99. Am I wrong? Oops I forgot that was Dallas!!

I have arrived and set up. Very slow trip, two delays for wrecks on interstate.
It is the Veranda Room, overlooking g the course.
Now for a gormet meal.
Boo they are putting us up in Hilton Inn. Susan had office party she had to attend, since she is in charge of it.
One hour before start time. Time for a nap!

Ha! Tell me about it. An hour and a half last night across the city in rush hour driving on glare ice for a trip that's usually 25 minutes. It's a good job I love my job.

It was much easier coming back. Not that much traffic on Saturday. Friday it took me six hours to drive the 234 miles, all on interstate. And there were no major incidents in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, just normal bumper to bumper traffic.
It was well worth the trip though!
It's good to be back. I'm off until Tuesday now. Time for some Christmas shopping!
