Fran, this is the same file you sent before...

The problem is, it appears to have XG sys-ex in it, which is what the BK-9 manual SPECIFICALLY says you can't use. You HAVE to strip out the XG sys-ex, either in the BK-9 sequencer or any other sequencer/DAW.

Do you know where you got these files in the first place?

I have been Makeup Tool-ing my entire G70 SMF collection, and haven't YET found a single file edited on the G70 that didn't work fine in the BK-9. Including tracks that had been transposed.

This is a sys-ex problem created by having Yamaha sys-ex in the file. There's no way the G70 put that in, it must have been there from the beginning. Strip it out, the files work fine.

Diki, the point I was making....the files were identical, including the XG exclusive....the first file plays fine on the BK...but the second does not play drums, because of the added common file (transpose) from the G70...

If I remove this exclusive data it will play in the BK5

Both of the files sound exactly like Tune 1000 midi files with embedded lyrics.

These are midi files that should play on ANY kb, correct?
Playing these using Windows Media Player on my PC I didn't hear drums on either file ... am I missing somethng? - other than the drums - wink

Look... I've already said.... There is a passage in the BK manual that SPECIFICALLY says, if you have XG sys-ex in it, it's not going to work right. Can't see how I can be any plainer than that.

Until you strip out that XG sys-ex, all bets are off.

Obviously, the G70 was more tolerant of non-Roland sys-ex, but the new ones are not.
