... and what will the COST be ... we have a whole generation of young adults who are 'upside down' with their credit because of all the 'toys' and 'necessities' available now ...

Great prediction of touch screen technology to come. And I am sure it will. But will keyboard players really want to play on glass any more than playing on an iPad screen now? We will always need a keboard action to play on.

I am still waiting on my flying car... There's no guarantee any of this is going to happen.
Plus, the ergonomics of much of it seemed dodgy to me. You are going to walk up to the wall and stand two feet away from something to touch it, where you can't see 90% of the screen anyway? Humans are built less conveniently than Corning would prefer..!
I see no reason that tactile computer input devices like the keyboard will ever change. Sure, you CAN use a touch screen to input text, but do it for more than a minute or so and repetitive stress disorders will be the call. Maybe Corning need to invent a SOFT glass!
Nearly everyone I know that does much on an iPad has a separate chicklet keyboard and a mouse. The every day word processing and data entry tasks would be painful, whacking your fingers on glass is no fun. And don't get me started about playing keyboard parts on an iPad screen!
Personally, sorry Corning, but I see the Google glasses kind of idea the way of the future. Small, lightweight, probably more cost effective than a wall sized touch screen, with something to track where your fingers are moving...
I'll use them while I'm flying in my car to the gig! Now, all they have to invent is eternal life, so I can live long enough to see it!

Practical? At what cost? LOL
Anyway, they haven't got an all electric car with a 500 mile range yet that goes on the ground, let alone flies with anything like modern car performance. You want to crawl around in little more than a fancy golf-kart the best that most can achieve is 100 miles or so, at speeds that put you in danger of being run over by an 18-wheeler!
This is no more likely than the Jetson's car... Read the article while listening to Donald Fagan's 'I.G.Y.'!

Hate to disillusion everybody but there is nothing futuristic or innovative in those videos, there just applications that use existing or older technology to perform somebody’s dream, that they hope will catch on and make them tons of money. (There are thousands conceived a year but only a minute amount ever catch on)

You don't have to invent it my friend, it's there already. All you have to do is to embrace it. The name of the door to it is called "Jesus" & I love Him with all my heart, all my soul & all my strength & yes, I'll be around when many others aint.

Which leads me to . . .
A new arrival appears at the pearly gates and St. Peter says to him, "Ah, you've been a good man all your life, here's the keys to your new car, a Mini."
"Wow!" says the guy, "I didn't know about that," and drives off happily.
Ten minutes later, he's back at the gates and says to St. Peter, "Hey, how come I'm driving around in this little car? I just saw a guy go by in a Rolls Royce?"
"Well, yeah," says St. Peter, "that's the guv'nor's boy."
