OT -- Mobile internet service - 06/19/13 06:19 PM

Anyone got any insight into getting decent (USA) internet service in various places across the USA? Air card or what? I know in some towns/cities you could get a signal at McDonalds or other wifi spot, but other than that, what's available. I might go on an extended trip, thousands of miles, and I cannot live without daily internet for my day job work. I can get email on iPhone, but I need to login to several industry databases on a regular basis to do work-related research. I have a laptop, but open to buying whatever is needed. Thanks!

Cool, thanks Eddie! I actually thought of Verizon today because I was thinking... I rely on my phone, yak on the phone all day... gotta have phone service. And I use AT&T. I was thinking of getting a second phone with Verizon as a backup for when ATT craps out. I'll have to look into this thing you posted, might be some kind of bundle available.

Hey, I wonder if I can have two carriers on one iPhone! I wish.

Bill,
Do your research!! Most, if not all, of the internet services you can use on the road have limits on how much data you can access. The fees for running over your contracted amount are extremely high. Check all the carriers like Sprint, AT%T, Verizon etc..

Bill, AT&T has a service where you tether your device to the cell phone and get internet service anywhere. I have it, and it works great. You can tether several devices at once. There is a small monthly fee.

My initial Verizon contract for Jet Pack was $50 a month with 5 gigs...My newest contract is $20 a month and share my 6 gigs..

and I have tether capabilities with my Verizon Razor service..
