Re: Roland is Back BK9 ......part2 - 03/29/13 07:38 AM

It is looking like we will have more to choose from in this unit from the BK-5 it looks like there will be a much needed improvement to the tone wheel organ segment 76 keys and light weight a must as a former G70 user I am looking forward to this .
one thing i am debating with my self is enternal speakers Bk 5 has them it came in real handy yesterday there is a growing trend i find in asst living homes memory care units growing and I am being asked to play 30 min in memory care and then the 1 hr show in general population after that with no time to set up so I am pre setting my tyros set up and going in the memory care with Bk - 5 this gives me a great advantage being able to provide pretty close show for both and get a better price for my show so if they put speakers and a Mic set up on it it will be great for that and will be able to go in to a small room with just a keyboard and a mic and do what I do you know we are always looking to carry less and sound more.

The BK9 may not have speakers...I don't think it has them...Shame ...because as you mentioned with a mic input and speakers...with 76 keys..could be perfect for small jobs..Senior centers etc..

Yes it would be great for that purpose but I think it will not have them roland is prob using the mold from a prev keyboard to construct this unit so the bk 5 is a great option but no mic input make me carry extra gear for the job that has 2 set ups I am starting to get many of those growing trend here in so cal .

It's tough to get you guys to lug much weight around. A 76 even without speakers will obviously weigh more than an equivalent 61. Were Roland to put in a decent set of speakers, it would probably push the weight up to where you guys would probably complain about that!

Damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Welcome to Roland's world..!

What other 76 has got built in speakers?

Diki! Pause the video at 20 seconds. Could this be the Chord Sequencer you've been asking for.?.?

Acquired the E-50 in a trade deal....
plus I needed a backup KB to my S950 also.
Sounds great with the BK7 styles too. headphone

It is Roland's excuse for not concentrating on MUSICAL features we want or need. The time and money wasted on this V-Link and MIDI Visual Control boondoggle (AFAIK, not one single Roland user on this forum has used the V-Link or MIDI Visual Control stuff) could have easily been used to give us multi-pads, audio loops and Chord Sequencers LONG ago.

I love the V-link!!!!!
Just kidding.. grin

I thought..for sure..Roland would have an updated midi set, to use via V-link by now...it can transmit midi messages...just think of some of the possible uses...especially if user assigned..And possibly new hardware devices that can be operated by V'link...

Maybe an app....with the control via V-link...sheet music, lyrics , music score, multi track recording..etc

There has to be a reason Roland keeps this on the forefront..

One thing I hope the new BK can do is use User defined PC/32/00 codes for Keyboard Parts if assigned to MIDI out.

The G70 was great, but it didn't play nice with other gear...
