Pa800 Lyric and Chords in Window - 02/04/13 06:36 AM

I have resaved a word document in plain text. I am trying to have lyrics and chords to my songs displayed in my Korg Pa800 window – to a TV screen.

No problem with the lyrics, but the chords do not stay where I have placed them; they all gather to the left side of the screen.

Is there any way to keep the chords where I have placed them?

Help would be appreciated, John C.

He's saying do it like this"
You're cheatin' (C) heart, will make you (F) weep,
You'll cry and (G7) and try to (C) sleep.

Wow – I tried that -- I didn’t know the tech. name.

I was hoping to keep the song as I saved them with the chords at the top.

I even tried:
You're cheatin' *C* heart, will make you *F* weep,
And:
You'll cry and >G7< and try to >C< sleep.

I’m always climbing that mountain, John C.
Thanks Don, John C.

The trick is to use a monospaced (non-proportional or fixed-width) font on your computer. This is what the typeface in most arrangers use. In regular fonts, each letter takes up a different amount of width, which, if then displayed in a fixed width font, makes a huge difference to where along the line a letter is displayed.

Probably the one you'll almost be certain to have in your computer is Courier, a typewriter font...

I wasn't aware that the OS shifted the characters like that. Don's example uses less lines (more lyrics to view), but if you don't like that method - try adding dots between chords ie:

....................C......................F...
You're cheatin' heart will make you weep

I prefer Don's example and I use the [brackets] instead of (parentheses) .... less keystrokes. You don't have to hold the shift key down.

Actually I use brackets too.

Unless you are using a fixed width font, adding dots won't help. The line with the LYRICS is what is moving about. The line with the chord, whether it is dots or spaces, will always stay as originally typed, no matter the font (or at least they stay FAR more fixed than the lyrics line).
