Where is the micro SD Card reader on Pa600? - 12/15/12 08:11 AM

I read an text advertaising for the Pa600. It was in german and translated so maybe all the text isn't right but this is the text:

"To continue the success of the MUSIKANT-series in the Pa600, software will be available about the MUSICIAN to load retroactively from December 2012 for the Pa600 available. With this optional extension, new styles and sounds, as well as over 400 musicians SongBook entries to the already very high-quality musical content of the Pa600 added with. This localization of the instrument is a must for musicians and entertainers in German-speaking countries. The MUSICIAN is software made available for download and unlocked by means of a micro SD memory card in the instrument and activated in this way for the instrument. "

Orginal side here: http://www.korg.de/nc/news/news-uebersicht/datum/2012/09/03/pa600-musikant-lokalisierung.html

In the manuals there also are som text about this reader but I can't se anything. My guess is that you need to open it with a screwdriver on the back, where there is a text warning about opening it. Or has anyone els any ideas...?

Regards
Jacob

P.S It seems like this is something that will come to all countries, but I can't se anything about it exept on german sites, because on www.korgpa.com you can read "Localized Pa600 and Pa600QT data (sold separately) provides Sounds and Styles relevant to specific countries and regions. "

The Pa600 does not use the SD cards, instead it uses USB/Flash Drives.

I believe the little panel you refer to covers the battery compartment.

I just checked that website and it does show a micro SD card in the drawing. That is puzzling indeed.

Anybody else have ideas?

You will need an sd card reader to load the data from the card to the keyboard via the usb port.

HI all,

What I can tell you is that there is specific content that will be made available for regional Korg distributors.
In Romania for example, there is a work-in-progress for creating a .set with many sounds and styles specific for the romanian traditional music.

I do not know many details, but the use of the SD card (there is one) is not what we know, but rather for these encoded extensions that will be available. If you wanted, you could buy the extensions and they will be loaded from this SD card, but you will not be able to save (or change) the content of it.

For that you will have some other internal memory available and of course, the USB.

There was NO SD card slot on my PA600. If Korg is going to distribute styes on SD cards you will need the adaptor shown in the post above.

Deane, there is a port on the back of your 600 that is currently covered by a square metal plate. It is all the way over to the left side when looking at the back. If you remove the screw you will see this is where the micro sd card gets inserted. As mentioned, this is intended for additional Korg content to be loaded which will be purchased from Korg and will expand the keyboard to play sounds and styles programmed for specific countries. When this expansion micro sd card is inserted, and by the way cannot be copied because it will be encoded with some kind of memory protection, it will take up about 64mb of the internal 96 mb of flash ram. I asked Korg about this and they said that for musicians wanting to load other .sets saved on flash drives, the user will be able to disable the micro sd card from the touch screen so it won't be necessary to unmount the micro sd card from the rear of the keyboard. If the micro card is inserted and being used there will still be about 30 mb of flash memory available to load your own .sets.

Thanks George for that great information and to Jacob for inquiring into finding out that the micro SD slot even exists.

And the SD slot was NOT mentioned in the manual?

I searched for each of the words slot, card, and micro in both PA600 manuals and there wasn't anything.

There had been some questions on how the German Pa600 Musikant set was loaded into the keyboard.

I found this demo just now on inserting and loading an Indian micro SD card into the Pa600. Although not in English this demo is clear on how a local set would get loaded into the Pa600.
