What kybd to buy

Still undecided. I can move fast with the 800, but still curious about how much better the 3x leap would be, specifically for live play (ok, let the nursing home critics be silenced :/). Does the 3x offer a lot more advancement to chew on? And then....what about the 950? The drums and styles seem to be the old PSR stuff. Thanks for any thoughts.

If you get pa3 you will be familiar with OS.
It does sound better than pa800.Basiclly you get everything you need for live playing.PA3 was made to be played live, not in the bedroom. You have a great sampler on pa3 and plus vl2.Yamahas vocalists don't even come close
But,it is up to you.S950 is good to.It was built for bedroom playing and nursing homes.

Zuki..... PA3x for your needs I would say is a no brainer, It has it all for your needs fro any gig,....AND you are very familiar with the KORG OS from your old Pa800 days.

Jim, You go around once in life get the Pa3x. Your audience will probably not know the difference, you will. There's something sonically different about the Pa3x versus the Pa800. I had no intention of buying one but due to some talk here I thought I'd take the ride to Frankieve's store just to see what it sounded like. I was surpsided at what I heard Layout of the controls on the Pa3x has been improved, it's built like a tank and it's form factor makes it simple to move.

Yea, the downside is the cost, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My first suggestion would be to get the PA3X, Zuki...that's an easy one, since you have spent a lot of time learning Korg's OS, and you don't want to let all that hard work go to waste. (Also see Stephenm52's post above-you can trust Steve's advice...he is a straight shooter)

You also might consider the rumor (probably more than a rumor), of a new Korg PA-900, which will be probably more advanced in some areas than the old TOTL PA3X and, of course, the more mediocre PA-600, and would likely have addressed any small issues found with those instruments.

Plus, with the PA-900, you will have the advantage of built in speakers, which will be ever so handy for quick rehearsals (I miss having an S910 for that reason alone), and you seemed to really like the old PA-800 (the one you are hugging in your forum pic) that it will, no doubt, be based on.

Maybe a reasonably cheap second hand PA-800 (or even a PA-600-but that doesn't have a vocal harmony) to tide you over till the PA-900 is released, and to also let you get wet without diving straight into the playing pool, not knowing yet how deep the water is, if you get my drift? wink

Good luck with whatever you choose, and best wishes in regards to getting back into playing, at whatever level you decide on.

Go for the PA3X. It's WAY better than PA800. "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life. . ."
I was wanting the S950 to replace the Korg, but I can't see that happening right now, even though the Yamaha is very good. I may try to keep both, at least for a while.

Actually, Jim, it's in the same box you delivered it to me in. I'm taking "low mileage" to a whole new level (LOL).

Zuki,

I'm going to be going right past you on my way to and from the Michigan game this Saturday. I'm going to have to leave Muskegon at about 6am. Yuck! If you ever get this way let me know.

Actually, Don, Jim HATED IT and traded it to me for the G-70 you helped me find (never played that one either). That's why I'm ragging on him about it!
