PA 3X - 11/11/12 08:27 AM

Gonna hit the keys and prepare for more live play! Think I'm interested in one, if anyone is selling, etc.

That's not a good thing, Don, as I know you really liked (actually, loved!) the PA3X, and, it is one of the best TOTL arrangers available today.

Did Korg ever sort out that joy-stick issue to your satisfaction?

I can't imagine you being without a bender, as you feature some great guitar emulations in your music, and what is guitar "playin" without being able to bend notes?

Probably, Donny, but it is still an "alternative", and not the properly functioning stick that came with a TOTL instrument.

Not everyone likes using a "ribbon"...especially if they are forced into it because KORG won't fix the stick.

Definitely poor customer service, even if they try to dress it up with a ribbon.

Yes. It is still available Lee.

Re: PA 3X - 11/11/12 09:12 PM

I yield the floor to Shim! I'm certainly in no hurry to sell mine, and not even certain I will. Also, I have potential buyers on hold already.
Anyway, I'd hate to cut off my nose to spite my face, as grandma used to say.

Jim,

You're gonna love the Pa3x, like many here I've been thru a few arrangers in the last 6 years. I don't think I've been as happy with an arranger as I am with the Pa3x, this is the probably the first arranger I've owned that didn't have me waiting for something that I perceived to be the next best arranger. I still have the T4 and wouldn't give that up that up either but if I had to give up one, today it most likely would be the T4. The good news I can keep both.

WHOever, WHATever, WHENever, it's just good that you are getting back to music, Jim ... keys

When I moved from NY to RI I left the band I was with for 26 years ... I felt I had lost my 'security blanket' and didn't play a gig for 7 years ... I found myself saying "I used to play" ... something I NEVER wanted to say ... fortunately, thnx to my wife's urging - she KNEW how much I missed it - I had some business cards printed up and started 'pounding the streets' ... the 3rd place I went into, the owner said 'there's the piano, play something' ... I sang and played a couple of tunes and started playing there three weeks later ... don't know what I would have missed out on if it were not for my wife's urging me on ...
smile

PS... Zuki is looking to buy a PA3x ... back on track ... grin

Thanks t. Like you, it might happen fast and with that I'll confuse things and say I'm now looking for an 800!

Re: PA 3X - 11/13/12 12:03 PM

The rumors of an impending PA900 are out there... You might want to hang tough and wait. The five fill system (as opposed to the old 3 fill system) is a paradigm changer for Korg. Plus the Chord Sequencer...

Me, if I was even considering a PA800 and the PA600 wouldn't work, I'd wait...

Yeh, thanks. I hate to wait, especially months on end. I would like speakers and the other things you mentioned.

The 600 is out (no mic) and a general feeling it is not on par with the 800.

Anyone know when the 900 is coming?

Bingo! I passed on the Pa3X - a case of not wanting to shell out big bucks for far more than I'd ever use. Jeez, my Pa1XPro has more than I'll ever use. Waiting is not a problem for me. I waited over ten years with my i30 and only jumped to the 1X as it was a downright sweet secondhand deal at the time. But time takes its toll - on my back anyway, so I'm biding my time to see what this Pa900 is all about. Have to say, though, that it does look like it might just be the most potent contender for my dollar before too, too long.

Re: PA 3X - 11/13/12 03:32 PM

I think you need to be a pretty heavy sample user or a devotee of the built-in harmonizers (personally, I think most standalone harmonizers sound MUCH better than even the best built-in, currently) to gain much waiting for the PA900.

Me, I'd go for the PA600, and maybe trade in or sell the 600 when the 900 comes out if it has something you GOTS to have!

Re: PA 3X - 11/13/12 08:14 PM

That's the thing Diki, I'm a heavy harmoniser user and I've found the built-in TC well adequate for my needs and I'd like to avoid the extra hooking up of a standalone. Besides that, on one end of my 1X sits a small mixer and at the other end sits my Bose Tonematch. Also, I'm sort of bsnking on the 900 having a bunch of sliders a la the 3X (I like sliders, too).

As I say, after all this time there ain't no rush.
