I'm still alive...

I'm still alive... - 10/16/12 03:42 PM

In more than 500 miles of travlin' south on the Intra-Coastal Waterway and Chesapeake Bay, this is only the second time I've been able to get online service. The trip has been exciting, sometimes scary, especially when the weather turned nasty, and very long. Still have more than 700 miles to go just to reach Miami, so at this rate, it will take another two or more weeks. I lost 4 days to bad weather, which resulted in my sitting out storms. So I just thought I would let you folks know that I'm not dead yet. wink

Man stay in Miami for the winter if you have to. Who's gonna help me with all of my problems if something happens to you. I'll be out of business. Penny, Drew and I will starve to death and our blood will be on your hands.

Take care friend,
Boo

Good to hear from you. Glenda and I were talking about you today and wondering how your trip was evolving. Does your cell phone work while your are sailing?

What a COOL thing to do, Gary. My big dream is to go from Kentucky to Fairbanks on a dual sport motorcycle...got it all planned out, but probably won't ever take the "plunge" (OOPS, BAD CHOICE OF WORDS)like you have.

Look forward to your trip reports!

Managed to get limited internet connection in southern NC tonight, still have a long way to go, but should be in SC by tomorrow afternoon. The worst part about the trip so far has been the weather, which ranges from freezing cold at night to a bit warmer during the day. Tomorrow the weatherman is calling for a 50 percent chance of showers - not good. Might just end up staying at the marina/restaurant another day longer, and maybe, just maybe, play some music in trade for slip rent. smile

I was wondering why Carol seemed to sound so happy during the past week - thanks for taking care of her guys.

Deane, most of the time I have cellular connection, but there has been a three day period where I had none at all. Just depends on how close you are to civilization. A lot of the trip is through winding swamplands with a very, very narrow channel, often less than 100 feet wide.

One of the things you get to see is how millionaires live - the waterside homes are beyond belief.

Stay tuned,

Diki,

It would take him another month to sail around to the Gulf wouldn't it?

Diki I know you like football! Do you know about this:
http://atdhenet.tv/index.html

You can watch any college or pro game anytime you want free whenever a game is playing. It plays about 2 or 3 seconds behind the TV broadcast. It is just a touch jumpy but it could be my computer. It's 4 years old just 2GB and a 120GB drive. PM me and let me know if you try it eh?

Boo us right about sailing to your neighborhood, Diki - about three weeks from Key West if the weather cooperates, which it rarely seems to do. wink

Thanks for the invitation, though,
