I must say that I´m impressed how an 8+ years old keyboard sounds so good. This convinces me that the new PA600 (with almost the same sounds, some new sounds, and a few more features, not vocal processor) for a quarter of the original PA1Xpro was, is a very good deal!!!

Oh, and as somebody says here: "is not the keyboard, is the keyboardist" totally true!!

Do you have any pa1x styles I would like to convert some for pa50sd?

What an exceptionally well done presentation.

I can see why Spalding has held on to his PA1X...no wonder, it is an awesome keyboard.

Notice the presenter managed to play tunes that weren't copyrighted as his examples...I notice Yamaha presenter, Martin Harris, does the same.

One would wonder if a really nice second hand example of the PA1X/PA1XPro would be a better deal than a PA-600...probably the former would have a more robust and better feeling keyboard action, as well as the PA1XPro having the 76-note range.

PS...Speaking of Spalding...where the heck is he? He hasn't posted here in quite some time.

PA1x is only 62 note polyphony. PA600 is a much better deal.

Also, PA1X has two variations, limited fills. Sure sounds good though, doesn't it.

Yes he sound good but so do all Korgs

You are probably right...also the PA-600 has DNC2, which should give it an edge sound-wise. Nevertheless, the PA1X is still a great sounding keyboard. I think it sounds better the the MicroArranger, and PA-50D.

On the PA-600, are you are able to use DNC2 sounds in the styles, as in when you revoice them?

I owned both the PA1X and the PA2XPro. Had to give them up due to the weight - certainly not the sound or features. It sucks getting old!!!

i am still about. i got married recently and am trying to make sure i keep my priorities straight so i dont have much time to post on the zone but as soon as something interesting comes up i will contribute. the Pa1x is still serving me very well and i cant see me changing it in the short term.

Na I'm going for the PA600 in November, the weight is reasonable, it does everything the pa2x did and good bits of the Pa3x, seems like good value for the money. I just tripped over that demo posted by a guy who was selling a pa1x.

All the styles the Guys used should be on your Pa800 I.m sure they were on my old pa2x.

one of the major problems with the Korg PA800 and the PA600 and a key reason why i would never buy one is the lack of the physical sliders . If you are a live player and i primarily am, then you cant alter the balance of the instruments in the mix immediately or as readily without physical sliders. Pressing buttons to reduce or increase the volumes in the mix is just not a credible alternative. Similarly if you play oragan at all it is virtually impossible to alter the drawbars in realtime like you would a real organ without the physical sliders. Although the later keyboards have DNC and the pa1x does not i have not been tempted to change my old workhorse just yet for very good reasons.

I think, at least for me, the PA3X and PA600 are the first Korg's I can really get behind. Going from 2 fills and a break to four and a break is a quantum leap in making style transitions smoother. I don't know if you can all remember that far back, but the 'jumpiness' of some of the style fills was a major talking point back then. The new Korg's are the first I have heard that don't have that stick out like a sore thumb, at least to my ears.

Oh, and the Chord Sequencer (or the '3rd Hand' as I think it better deserves to be called) doesn't hurt, either!

I am loving my new PA500 Musikant edition. Would get a PA3x musikant if the cash was there..not right now..

I wouldn't swap my Korg i30 for all the available keyboards on the market.

It's not the keyboard. It's the "Entertainer," or the "Vocalist" that matters. The audience could care less about which keyboard you use and how many sounds it has. They are all tone-deaf, drunk and or drugged up for the most part anyway.

Let's face up to the facts. For example, put Elvis up there strumming E, A, and D chords all night with a guitar with one sound, let me repeat that (one sound)and any of you with your super duper arrangers with 3 million sounds and 20,000 styles, who do you think they will like the best? Anyone with a brain the size of a pea can figure this one out.

If you and I sing both pretty close but you're cuter than me, you will be the most popular entertainer. Now isn't that true Russ? The biggest "Super Stars" of all time in entertainment are Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

Does anyone here really believe that any of these yo yo's today will be around entertaining for 60 years? Come on now, not a chance.

The Korg I30 is a great and endearing iconic (meaning "old") arranger, Boo...isn't it steam powered?

Seriously, your post makes a lot of sense.

It certainly is the "performer" that is the bottom line...I have seen fine jazz pianists performing on digital pianos that were old technology, and far from top of the line(probably because they couldn't afford better) yet, their music was always something that drew you in, and the piano's sound was totally secondary.

I get your point Boo, but you'd have to be pretty slow not to swap that antique for ANY of the modern arrangers. That's like saying computers are nice, but I prefer my adding machine.

Before the "pretty slow," you need to add damn poor too!! Try living on $1200 a month SS, no brickwork within a 1000 miles, and owing a $90,000 home equity loan on a house that you bought brand new in 1982 for $50,000.

For some of us, life is not a bed of roses fishing bass all day and golf on alternate days and playing music all night. Also we all can't play country music! If we did maybe you'd be out of work. Ha ha! think about it.

I see many people on the forum are going back to korg, when this used to be pretty much a yamaha dominated forum....
Probably because Donny switched to a pa500, or maybe the microarranger was just too tempting not to buy... oh well.
That said, if anyone is interested in a great deal on my korg pa3x (61) let me know, I have a lightweight but hard case (with wheels) for it as well.
Depending on your offer I may throw it in.

TBH, from listening to most younger singers (I use the word loosely!) it isn't even the singer that matters! They are tone deaf to not only the gear but the performer too...

So true. That about sums it up, Diki. We all know image is a major part (THE major part?) in this game, and with some of the stunningly low actual talent that 'graces' much of the chart nowadays which, without colossal electronic intervention would sink quicker than the Titanic.

Quick note to anyone getting into the game with a view to a bit of longevity in it: Get yer basics down, i.e., voice, chops. If you can handle that, let the electronic intervention do the rest. If it can make silk purses out of some of the sow's ears currently knocking about, you'll have it made. Oh, and a bit of luck doesn't hurt, either.

Please take a look at Lianne La Havas. In a matter of a few months, she has gone from $50.00 coffee shop gigs to opening for Alicia Keys, with Stevie Wonder and Prince in the audience, declaring her the best new female talent in 50 years. She was on the Craig Ferguson show last week and "killed"!


Because of her style, she'll never be a big as Brittany Spears or the like (thank goodness), but she's refreshing and phenomenal. Excellent musician and cute as can be. Hope she doesn't sell out and "follow the bucks".

Every time I worry about the new "crop" of young musicians and entertainers, someone like this comes along. Thankfully, they're out there.

And that speaks well for the future of the music business.

Any entertainment is the same today. How many Brad Pitts, Matthew Perry's so on and so forth will make 200 movies, like Paul Newman, John Wayne and all the others that made movies for 50 or 60 years. The old audiences were not smoking as much pot and doing cocaine, meth so on and so forth.

The audiences of today have their brains fried and cannot concentrate long enough to follow a plot and figure out the ending. They only understanding action. People flying all over the screen and doing impossible feats with computer graphics is what I'm understanding. Audiences today get bored with entertainers very easily.

Can you imagine entertainment 20-30 years from today. Everybody doing rap. I wonder how many more curse words they will be able to create to keep the material fresh? Ha ha! Can you imagine how many 1 chord tunes there will be? How funny and sad!!!
