Is there any free iPad apps for displaying PDF sheet music files?

I'm using an App called "unrealBook". Seems to work for me.

I plan to scan my whole songbook

Is it best to separate each page in one pdf file, or each song, or each playlist...?

Dan if you use an app like Unrealbook, you can simply select a song you want to play from the book and then using the file menu, "export" that one song to your song lists.

So all you have to do is transfer the whole PDF fake book as one file, no scanning individual pages at all smile

It actually only saves a link to the page in the fake book, but it (the chart) loads exactly the same as if it were a normal stand-alone chart, and can be manipulated and notated as if it were a separately scanned chart too.

As for the OP, there are some free PDF readers, but not really suitable for chart reading. Some are also free from music publishers, but have "in-app" costs for charts that you HAVE to buy from them....

TBH, at $5.50 Unrealbook is a real bargain, and all totally free updates. You would probably pay more for a decent espresso!!!

Hi Dennis,
thank you for the info.

Hubby just bought me an ipad, & I bought the unreal app, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Didn't realize you could load the whole book, I would have probably wasted the time trying to somehow do the pages individually. ( Reading the manual would probably help) haahaa

If you've got any more great tips, be appreciated.

hi Rikki, congratulations & welcome to the iPad fan club.
I concur with miden and Stephen52 and highly recommend UnRealbook.
I continue to love and use my new iPad 3rd generation every day,
including regularly reading and posting remotely on Synthzone.

Thanks Rikki, always a pleasure smile Best thing is to just ask if something can be done, rather than just posting up a whole bunch of useless info smile

You might like to check out my video on using the iPad and Unrealbook with the PA3 (well it's the PA2 I did it with, but it works exactly the same on the PA3.
