Hi MOTUNOMAN
This is a very typical Brazilian style used very often for Forro, Reggae, and Axé. Here are some examples;

Telmo- yes, that's the song I had in the back of my mind. I played it during dinner and my wife said they play it at her Zumba class. She sings in Portuguese too so maybe we'll give that song a go. obrigado meu amigo smile

It reminds me a lot Men at Work, Down Under, (sans the middle part with accordion). Even the chord progression in the demo is very similar.
