What's out there for 88 weighted keyboards out the - 05/31/11 07:55 AM

My sister is in the market for a new keyboard. I know cassio has come up with some nice offerings lately. Yamaha too if I'm not mistaken. I really don't know what's out there, as I'm only interested in pro level stuff. But, my sister is wanting something with built-in speakers, 88 weighted keys, good piano sound. It doesn't really need to have any arranger functions, which it seems like all the cassios do. What's most important is that the built-in speakers sound good, and the piano sound is good. Where should I start looking?
Thanks,
Rory

Below are a few very affordable portable digital piano's and keyboards.

Casio CDP-100

Eagletone EP100

M-Audio ProKeys Sono 88

Korg SP-170

Yamaha NP-30 (76 Keys)
Casio WK 7500 (76 Keys)

I own the little brother of the Casio WK 7500 and the piano sounds are very good on this one and also the keys are very good.

Hi Rory,

I have used Yamaha P-85/95...very good piano sound, great 88 note graded hammer action, built in speakers, optional stand and three pedal unit. No styles, but you can mix two sounds...piano and strings, for example.

Very good value for the money...it also has dedicated MIDI ports in case you want to sneak it away and use as a controller <grin>.

When I have one here, I use it as a MIDI controller for my arranger.

Good luck,

Ian

I would look at the Yamaha S90xs.... they also have a 76 key version S70xs
They have the Motif sound engine and also have vocal harmonizer and are geared to live performance....Watch the demo video... Great piano's are the highlite along with many other features..... Ron

If you can get a second hand Yamaha CP-300 in good condition, it's worth a look. The on-board speakers are incredible, and the sounds, especially the pianos, are excellent. Action is pro quality graded hammer 88 notes.
