backing tracks - bossa nova/swinging standards - 05/29/11 01:47 PM

Can anyone recomend where to go for these types of backcing tracks. I just want simple bass, and drums that I can play piano over. I'd prefer SMF.

You can also get some good stuff by doing a search for "jazz piano trio Midi."

You can of course easily remove everything except for what you want to hear.

I've seen real book in midi. I used to have it. It was done in BIAB format originally, I think.

If you go to Doug MacKenzies website he had pdfs of his midi transcriptions. Last I looked you could download the midi file and pdf for free individually. If desired you can order a DVD of the materials. Many of his songs are piano trio.

There is always Band In A Box where you can put your own chord structure.

Sorry, playing root based chords will not produce this uniquely piano jazz sound.

I hope this might give people previously unfamilar with the advantage of playing rootless chords on an arranger might better appreciate it's advantages now,
especially for keyboardists who want to play the arranger in the style of a comping jazz style pianist. cool

This might help some of you who play rootless chords...
