... though not an Arranger gear, it can obviously be used with one. Any out there using this unit? Your feedback would be appriciated.

Most recording gear is intimidating and hard to understand for me. This unit is all that times two...

I imagine for the guys who do a lot of recording, it would seem pretty useful. For me, this wouldn't work...

I used the Studio Live 24.4.2 for a weekend a few months ago. I didn't need to crack open the manual... everything worked as if it was an analog mixer. You do need to allow yourself some time (a few hours) to get familiar with selecting a channel and then adjusting it. I gave a demo to a few music teacher friends and they got the concept really quickly. The same weekend, I used it for a gig where I supplied the sound for a New York musician. They commented on how nice everything sounded. I could give the musicians what they needed within a short amount of time.

Presonus just released a smaller mixer called the 16.0.2...

If you need the channels, go with the 24.4.2. If you need 16 mic pre amps, go with the 16.4.2. If you want the smaller package and don't need the 4 buses, go with the 16.0.2. All of the units can use a iPad to control the features. The biggest benefit for the small unit is MIDI. You can preset your effect changes via MIDI.

I wish I had the need for one. I do very little recording anymore and get by with my Roland BR532 or Zoom H2. I haven't figured out how to use my Pro Tracks or Cakewalk software for recording, but the ProSonus looks workable, if I needed one.

The goal is to use this for LIVE shows and leave 'the rest' behind. Still debating between the 24 or the 16 as it is good to have those extra channels ... just incase. Being able to add different effects, compressor, limiter, gate settings ... etc to each channel independently is definaely a deal breaker.

Recording is just a bonus ...

shueymusic - You mention using it a few months ago and being able to hit the ground running for the most part. Did you keep the mixer and if not, what happened?

I only had the 24.4.2 for the weekend to try to sell it for a dealer friend of mine. When I used it for the gig, everything went really smooth using it as a "LIVE" board. The only thing that held me back was the price. I loved how it worked and if I get any bigger sound gigs, I may pull the trigger... my friend gave me a deal $400-$500 below the MAP price.

I have the Yamaha n12 in my studio. I am hoping Yamaha has something up their sleeve to release something like the Presonus in the next year or so... here's to wishing!!
