If then... You REALLY sure you want to go without a PSR for maybe a year or so (or more!)?

I don't think I read anywhere that Yamaha were guaranteeing a new PSR in Oct...

That's a lo-o-o-o-ng time to be without a keyboard. Jeez, I'd be in rehab from the withdrawal symptoms. I get itchy if I go on holiday for a week and have no contact of fingers on plastic.

You could always buy a sailboat, then you wouldn't worry about the keyboard(s). wink

Good Luck,

The time frame between tyros 3 and 4 was only 2 years. The s900 came out in sep 07. The s910 came out in sep 09. I'm
Convinced the next one is due in sep

True story...

A friend of mine, who is a retired fisherman, did something similar...sold his keyboard (also on his wife's urging) and waited for the next new model, which was estimated to be introduced in a few months.

Needless to say, the estimate was wrong, and, after about four months, his wife left him, saying that he had become impossible to live with (apparently playing music was like therapy to him) and eventually she filed for divorce.

The settlement wound up in her favor, and she got half his pension, and he wasn't able to afford a new keyboard, or even a decent second hand one.

I remember this well, because the store I worked for (in Newfoundland) felt sorry for him, and donated a PSR-510 to the poor guy.

It all worked out in the end, I suppose, but I know I couldn't go even a few weeks without my "fix" of playing my keyboard...I'm nutty enough even when I'm playing regularly...I'd not want to find out what I'd be like after a few months without enjoying my arranger.

And, in case you're wondering, I'm divorced.

My ex-wife eventually got re-married to my best friend...

I haven't found out his name yet, but when I do, I'm sending him a thank you card...

Now, back to exploring the Tyros4...it's a tough job, but someone has to do it...may as well be me.

Things my grandmother said ------- (And everyones HA!)

"Don't throw out the dirty water until you have clean"

Back in the days of multiple places to play that was the advice I always thought of when thinking of changing gigs. I guess it applies to equipment too.

Good luck with your new purchase

No, then you'd have to worry about finding a WATERPROOF keyboard..! wink

True story... I used to windsurf a lot, and still have a few bits of gear with rust on them from seawater dripping onto the gear off of sails and booms hastily stowed in the back of my van! There were some beach gigs I used to do where I would rig a board, and just go sail about on my breaks! That always got a good laugh, as I came in dripping wet to start the next set...!

Be patient with your decisions. I had a Gilchrist F5 style mandolin, years ago, which I sold for a reasonable sum in 1993. I told myself I could get another one anytime. It's been, a few years since, and they command prices of $US20,000 plus now, if you can find one. lol so I took up the keyboard again , better decision anyway - for me.
BTW, my best mate got my tone deaf wife and other sundry items, but, I got a new wife( better model) in the end, who likes music - win, win. dance Now, just need to get the $$'s for a new keyboard hehe......

you get rid of your instrument just because a new model might be made? Rather extreme...

How much did you save, 200-300 dollars? Wow I can't stand more than a week without my keyboards. Arrangers are either for work or pleasure, I would leave those speculations for business

I suspect there's been a naughty advice whistle Women are women...

PS Now be careful you don't spend that money on the new washing machine wink

Do NOT listen to your wife......at least not until all the credit cards are maxed out and the house is in foreclosure; THEN you could ask her to see if her parents might float you a loan. The truth is, they don't want us to have any fun, and look for any excuse to punish us (sometimes just for something we MIGHT do in the future). Why else would they make us eat broccoli and tofu, or go to see a Broadway musical, or go to church during a NFL playoff game, or buy a minivan, etc. We need to stand up for our rights. Whoops, gotta go. My wife's calling me to dinner. Hope she at least put a little butter on that broccoli.

I basically got back what I paid for it
2 years ago. I think it was a wise time to sell.
Besides I need the money now for a trip to asia.
