T4 not backwards compatible !!?? - 10/16/10 05:36 AM

I've just been told by my dealer that the T4 isn't backwards compatible !? Can someone confirm as this is a serious issue for me, it will make or break my purchase.

Thanks

Perhaps the dealer means that you can't use Tyros4 styles in the previous Tyros instruments?

You can probably use the T4 styles with the T3, but not an earlier keyboard. Of course you can use all of the earlier keyboard's styles with the T4 though.

Apparently, the Tyros4 styles will work in the Tyros3 and S910...I've already tried them in the latter, and they sound great with a bit of tweaking/re-voicing.

However, models before the Tyros3(and S910) use a different version of the accompaniment engine, and will require conversion...there are programs that will do the job.

And yes, all the previous Tyros'/CVP styles will work just fine...in fact, there are also all of the 9000/9000Pro styles available as well on PSR-Tutorial.

Hi Danny,

"T4 styles on the T3??? No way!!??"

Yes they do work fine on the T3 for the most part, but you may have to revoice a few of them as they are missing some of the voices that are exclusive to the T4.

The "Free Play" styles (4 of them) will not copy across to the T3 even though the T3 already has one of them ('Ethereal Movie'), it could be that the T3 doesn't recognise the "Free Play" designation.
