I would be very surprised to see that the soundset in this thing is very much different from a GW-8. In fact, the GW-8 probably offers more ROM than this. Give up the eight-track recorder (only two at a time, so a Zoom R16 is a better bet anyway if you want to track a band) and you might easily be fooled into thinking the GW-8 is the better keyboard, seeing as how you get a great arranger thrown in...

The Juno Gi probably has a stronger emphasis on modern, contemporary sounds (but the GW-8 is no slouch in the synth area), but how many of us are really looking for that, anyway?

I'm sure the Juno has some DNA from the Fantom G sound engine. I love the Fantom G; the ergonomics, Operating system, and some of the sounds are awesome. They are still not in the same class as Yamaha on the Acoustic soundset, but I LOVE the drums and Synth sounds.

I'd bet many of these features in the Juno Gi will shiow up in Rolands next TOTL arranger !

I have to confess, I haven't heard anything yet other than the arpeggio stuff that I hadn't heard in the GW-8. I know Fran still has his Prelude (I only had the GW-8 on loan from a friend) so perhaps he could chime in if there's anything radically new, but I am willing to go out on a limb, and say this is FAR more likely to be based on the Sonic Cell chip than the FantomG. You'll see Roland come out with a new module long before you'll see new technology rolled into a low cost arranger or WS. Sonic Cell predated the GW-8 and Prelude by what, a couple of YEARS?

It seems that Roland share much in common with Yamaha, rigidly separating WS keyboards from arrangers. Lord knows when we are ever going to see the first MOTL arranger with ANY decent arpeggiator (arps play whatever notes you feed them, arrangers interpret what you play and try to substitute it with a chord) or a proper multi-track audio recorder capability on them.

I'm sorry, but I simply can't get too worked up about this thing... Favorite Performances? Isn't that what we all have? We just call them Registrations, or UPG's etc.! And, I'm sorry, but everyone posting here on even the lowliest laptop has more than enough horsepower to run a MUCH more capable eight-track recorder than this thing has.

But, with batteries, it will pair Fran's BA-330 nicely for those campfire raves we all attend so often!
