Drafting stool with back. Doubles as a dolly sometimes! I've had it about 20 years but it's about gone now. I have another in the garage waiting to be put into service.

Just recovered and repadded the seat after 10 years of use. My butt no longer has any natural padding (it shifted to my belly), so I changed the seat padding to 4-inch thick foam.

The thing I love about this seat is it puts you at near standing level, it has both a foot and back rest that are adjustable, and it folds flat for transporting in the van. And, obviously, I sit while performing.

Cheers,

Gary

Looks to me like travlin' easy is sittin' easy. Who makes that chair, Gary?

ROTFLMAO

You thnk that seat is uncomfortable? In the 80s I competed in a triathlon called the Liberty to Liberty. It started with a swim in the Hudson off Liberty State Park ( tetanus shots were required). Then we had a police escort to Sayreville NJ, then the just under 100 mile bike race across the state of NJ into Phily where you then ran 5 miles. Took me 8 hours just for the bike segment. Below is a photo of they type seat on sat on. The Roc n Soc is like an easy chair compared to the bike seat

For those of us with 76's or larger, I have always felt disappointed with the choice in benches (not stools, which allow no side to side movement). By and large, all I have seen is X-type benches, which by their very nature get unstable as you slide down to the extremes (and they are never as wide as a piano or organ bench).

Has anyone seen a lightweight folding piano bench durable enough for day to day gigging? Something with a leg at each corner, rather than the unstable X-type...

I just use whatever chair they have available at the gig.. and I bring one of these with me everywhere just in case to boost up the padding or metal chair..works great!
