Midjay placement on a keyboard Q?

Midjay placement on a keyboard Q? - 04/23/10 02:04 PM

A question for you folks who have used a Midjay with a keyboard; what was the best placement for the Midjay? I used an Master MK3 controller and I was able to place it on top of the board but alas, after all these years the MK4 has become unreliable. I'll be using the Korg PA800 as a controller until I can get the comparable MJ registrations and sequences in the Korg and edited etc. As well, I may continue to use the combo because I like features of each. But, for a couple of gigs I want to use the Korg as a controller for the MJ.

I used a double-tier kb stand, and lowered the top tier and brought it forward until it is as close as possible to the keyboard.
You may need to use a shelf.
I later got a controller case in which I mounted the Midjay, Harmonizer and power supplies via Velcro. The top of the case comes off and I set it on the second tier.
Matter of fact, I still have it somewhere.
It was neat because everything was already hooked up except for a couple of cords to the kb.

Thanks Guys. That's what I did the other night - added the second tier and actually used a piece of wood shelving. My wife hemmed a piece of black material and we Velcro-ed it to the wood ... looked like a DJ coffin, and should work 'till I find some kind of clear material shelf, it was awkward trying to view the display under the wood.

Home Depot does not cut Plexiglas anymore … Lowe’s will cut to your specs, but you have to pay for the entire sheet … so I just cut out a slot in my wood shelf … works okay.
