Free high quallity sound font - 03/29/10 02:28 PM
I am looking for a high quallity soundfont, GM/GS/XG for my newly acquired soundfont player : Cakewalk FSZ player
http://www.cakewalk.com/support/project5/sfz.aspx I used to have some good quallity sound fonts but they have been lost over the years

Hi Bachus,
not sure if the links still work. I don't have time at the moment to check them out.
http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum43/HTML/000026.html If you can still find them SGM128 & SGM180 were quite good.
The other ones I mentioned were commercial fonts.
best wishes

Thank you for the input, currently downloading the SGM180 and checking out Rikki's links. (They still work and it looks like there is some great stuff inthere too)

I need to prune out a few links that have gone bad, but all the links I know about can be found at

Hi Bachus,
it's been roughly 3 years since I last used my soundfonts, so wasn't sure if the links still worked.
I really enjoyed using them at the time. Gave me the freedom to replace the sounds I didn't like in a gm or xg bank, with better suited sounds.
It was quite interesting really. Discovered that just because a soundfont bank used lots of memory or was really expensive (I bought a few of the gm banks), they didn't neccesarily sound better than the freebies.
I started to mix n match & put together my ideal bank. Never quite finished the project.
Maybe one day when I get enthusiastic enough to sought out my V Machine or end up with a decent laptop again.
I also used a librarian & editors.
I did a post on it at the time. I was a goldmine of useless information haahaa.
best wishes
Rikki
