Hi Machetero
I was trying to link a folder.
I must be doing something wrong.

I listed them individually instead.

Hi Guys,
thank you for the feedback.

I hope to add some more shortly.
I just want to go back thru them & recheck some of my style settings before I post.

I'm trying to consolidate to a single site.
Currently I've a number of them spread over 3 different sites & I've lost track of the ones I've previously posted & the one's I've never posted. So sorry if you end up with double ups, but it's quite possible the double ups have been retweaked.

best wishes

I just converted all of the styles to Technics and Roland, and they didn't need any tweaking at all except for a couple of volume adjustments. Mighty fine work Rikki. I am using all of them. Thanks again.

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/05/10 03:59 PM

Hi Bernie,
thanks for letting me know.

I normally try & use GM2 sounds & drumkits for my user styles, be they conversions , or styles I've put together from individual phrases.

Might be the reason they've converted reasonably well to both Roland & Technics, ie no User sounds or drumkits to confuse EMC.

I'm slowly going thru the rest of them to fix any problems I may have missed. I'll post again when I add more.

best wishes
Rikki

Rikki, how big would it be if you zipped up all those zip files into a master zip file? If you could email it to me I would be happy to put them all in a folder here at Synth Zone.

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/10/10 09:20 AM

Hi Bernie,
Is there any chance you could put the converted (to Technics) styles on 4shared - I would appreciate it if this were possible.
Best wishes,
Tony

Tony
I am new to file sharing, but I zipped all the Technics styles that I converted from Rikki into one file. I pulled these from my floppy's converted styles, so they should unzip directly to floppy. I opened an account on 4Share. I hope the link is right. http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/27801236/92d1eef2/sharing.html?sId=GJ6WcHuv0zw3LIG6#

You might want to check the Technics Forum from time to time as I have hundreds of great Technics styles I can share. I will post the link when I get some time.

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/11/10 01:03 PM

Hi Nigel,
thank you for the kind offer.
I think I finally got my folder link working in 4 shared.

Even though it would be great to have them here at Synthzone, I'll be adding more along the way. Sometimes I even go back & re-edit the odd style.

It would be too big an imposition on you to have to keep going back & forwards adding & deleting styles. You have enough to do keeping the forum going.

Really appreciate the offer though.
best wishes
Rikki

Hi Rikki,
Bernie has converted your first list of files to KN7. Very nice styles. Do you have any recommended titles to suit. It is not along the lines of what I normally play, but I would like a guide to some thing appropriate, as they are very nice sounds, and I should expand my horizons, so to speak.

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/12/10 04:52 PM

Hi Ray,
my user styles are basically styles I've converted from another format ie Band in a Box, other style formats, midifiles, sometimes record the odd style track myself. I do them either thru midifile to style conversion, or sometimes via EMC.

I then edit, ie replace tracks, modify or replace intro's/endings/fills etc whatever it needs to try & make it useable.

Straight EMC conversions usually don't sound too great, that's why I stunned that they appear to be converting quite well to Technics format ( wish I still had my KN7 to test them) haahaa

Some of the styles I don't even use myself, they've been a request from style group members.

Soul Beat I tested with Stand By Me & Dock of the Bay.

Country Ballad one of the members mentioned goes well with Country Roads.

Piano Waltz I created for one of the members who luv's Piano Arpeggio's as much as I do. He wanted a simple style for Moon River & Fascination.
( English Waltz should work with these tunes also)

Orch Swing kn2 is actually an old kn2 style.
I added additional variations, ending & intro, which may not show up in a kn7.
Korg has 3 intro's/endings. Again, try it with standards.

Styles like Autumn, Classic Piano Bld etc I hope to use with some of the old 40's/50's standards. (Autumn Leaves being one of my favourites). Just try them with some of the old standars. Arpeggio styles work quite well with a lot of tunes.

P&W AWA style, is a Band in a Box Praise & Worship Style, not something I use myself. It was just an experiment quite a while back to see how well a BIAB style would convert to keyboard format. I'm waiting to hear back if it's useable & for what?
I find some of the BIAB styles too busy for keyboard use. They sound great in BIAB itself, but in a 4 or 8 bar loop not always good.

It's hard trying to get feedback as to what songs members are actually using the styles for.

It's also great to see non korg users get to use the styles , thanks to Bernie.

best wishes
Rikki

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/12/10 05:04 PM

Hi Bernie,
if it helps, I usually set my styles out this way.

Intro 1 & 2, are normal intro's with or without chord progression.
Intro 3 is usually just a count in.
Normally ending 3 is the simplest of all the endings.
Fill 1 usually works for vari 1&2, fill 2 for vari 3&4, fill 3 is the break.

Odd occasion fill 1 for vari 1,2 & 3. fill 2 for vari 4.

I know you have a heap more fills than my korg.

The above info probably would have been of more help before you started converting. haahaa, ( wise in hindsight) but I have got more styles to upload.

best wishes

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/12/10 11:24 PM

Thanks Rikki,
It seems I was looking for a lazy way out, and I should have used my own initiative, as your answer floats my boat down the stream I normally play.
I will check, but I think you are right about Orch Swing, it did sound a bit empty when I played it, and maybe all did not transfer to my KN7,but as I said before, the rest are quite a change and I like them quite a lot.
One file shows Manjaz, but it is empty. Any reason for that?
This Global Warming!!!!!! has hit you people a bit early down there, "bugger"!!!!!

Sorry Rikki,
Why did I think you lived in South Australia?
The question is too hard for me.
My daughter, granddaughter, grandson and son-in-law are off to Fingal Bay on Saturday for a week. A nice spot to live.

Hi Ray,
we're in a quiet little backwater called Lemon Tree Passage. Sort of nice after living in Sydney. There again, living in Turramurra wasn't all that hectic either.
We lived down near the Bobbin Head National Park.

AS for South Australia, we visited there once. Luved it, but couldn't stand the heat.

As a Technics owner , just out of interest, did you buy your keyboards from Bob Ransley & Ollie. ( Associated Electrics?? I think)

I enjoy playing music to myself, but love it when I can share with people who enjoy it. I am sure all of the members feel the same.

Re: My Korg Pa800 User Styles - 01/13/10 07:04 PM

Hi Rikki,
I think my KN5000 originally came from Ass. Electrics, and yes I know of Bob and Ollie, Bob was/is a good organ player, which was my interest in the early days of my resurgence back to playing music, (I gave up when I was 14, and started again at 47). Yes, stupid, I know, but I am trying to catch-up.
My PR903 came from Gospel Music and I stole the KN7 on e-bay. My brother has since aquired a KN7 as well.
See Ya!
