Question: Especially for the (well) seasoned vets... - 07/13/09 10:24 AM

The song "In A Shanty In Old Shanty Town" had an alternate version that started something like this:
There’s a shanty that’s down in a little part of town
With the green grass growing all around all around
And the roof’s so worn and badly torn
that it touches the ground ... etc.

Does anyone have these lyrics? It would be much appreciated if I could get a copy...
thank you,
t.

Thnx for the effort fellas, but I had seen those ... I had no luck on the I'net ... The lyrics I'm looking for (which start out as above) were sung by a friend of mine who passed away last year ... we are doing a musical tribute to him and I am trying to find those lyrics ...
thnx agn,

There’s a little shanty town on a little plot of ground.
Where the green grass grows all around, all around
And the roof so worn so badly torn that it touches to the ground to the ground
Just a tumble down shack and it sits way back,
About a forty-five feet from the railroad track
Lingers on my mind most all the time
Keeps callin’ me back to my tumble down shack
Well I’d be just as sassy as Hallie Salassie
If I were a king wouldn’t mean a thing
There’s a queen waitin there in her rockin’ chair
Just a blowin’ her top on a gator beer,
Wingin’ on down and swingin’ on down
Cause I gotta get back to my shanty town.

True, but the one I was looking for was Ian's ... actually, Ian's is missing two lines which I realized when I went to sing it, but I got the whole thing from a long time Zoner, currently inactive ...
thanks to all who contributed ...
