Anybody got a clue?

Anybody got a clue? - 07/05/09 05:14 PM

In the past I'd put a midi or a karoke file in Cakewalk turn the volume on the lead inst off or delete it. If anything was set to channel, I'd reset it to 11 or 12 etc. Then I'd set channel 1 to what ever instrument I wanted to play on the keyboard. It's always worked find. Tonight it won't only not change from a piano to another inst, it also won't work with my harmony box. I have maybe 10 or so MIDIs that I've done this with in the past. This one's karaoke but I'm sure I've done a few of those too.
Hope someone can figure this out for me. Thanks in advance,
Boo

Try changing the file extension from kar to mid. That's my only thought...

Sometimes they put the instrument name (or Number) in the event list. you'll have to either change it or delete it. Not the whole list just the event.

Check to see if the file is 'read only'. That will stop everything. Check by right clicking and checking Properties. You can also edit the file and Save As a different file name.

Thanks friends. I wasn't waiting for the midi to start and that why the instument wasn't changed. I forgot to check the harmony box but it should work also.
Thanks again,
