About this forum - 02/25/09 11:12 AM

I have thought many times about leaving this forum completely, for the same reasons.
However, I refuse to let a couple of guys with bad attitudes run me off, after I've been here since the inception.
Normally, I choose just to ignore what they say and try to stay positive.

A while back we lost a player who brought more to this forum than he too away. We are now on a threshold of losing a man of possibly losing a level headed man who writes with respect for all. I never pass one of his posts because they deal with the subject at hand.

There are many who have not returned for the same reason that Dom mentioned above. There‘s lots of good people on this forum, it is by far one of the better to visit why mess it up with the, “I’m right”, syndrome.

“Sometimes it is better to be kind
than to be right”.

I think that if we all "talk" as if we were person-to-person, we'd be better off.
I really don't think Gary is leaving for good.
Sure hope not!
I don't cut myself off from my entire family because I have an obnoxious cousin or two!

Let everyone be their own judge. I did not come to judge the group but to help it.
Wow, where have I heard that before.

Rather than leave, why not simply skip over or ignore the postings of persons with attitudes, or continual negative responses. Don't read them, since they'll just put a burr in the saddle again, which is probably their objective.

Or better yet, why don't we all start flaming each other all the time? If it's OK for some, why not all?

Look, if you are looking for a forum where everybody agrees all the time, best of luck, mate! You can see how much traffic the arranger specific forums here get... And, if you simply need to discuss your specific arranger, there are focused forums like PSRWorld, Korgforums and Roland-arranger that are by far the better place for that.

The General Arranger Forum here is where we get together to talk about the DIFFERENCES between arrangers, playing styles, OS's, sounds, etc.. And you are NEVER going to find agreement about that! Well, seldom, anyway.

This place is kind of like a bar... 'Lively debate' will get you a ribbing (or an interesting conversation), but calling out someone's mother, or calling someone a wanker to their face will get you a meat sandwich To hide behind a 'handle', and use language that would get you involved in a scuffle in a bar is the hight of cowardice and ignorance, IMO.

I have tried to do this for a good while now, and will continue to try (harder) in the future.....

As an english 'gentleman', I tend not to open my real feelings towards the so-called heavy mob
You have to remember that the entertainment profession has a rather high incidence of testosterone... and that comes with the territory

...conflict....
I have never heard such twaddle in all my life... (How's that for conflict?)

Re: About this forum - 02/26/09 06:26 AM

Like the line in "The Majesty of Rock", by Spinal Tap...

"The more it stays the same, the less it changes"

Here's how I see it.

If you can't handle a dig, then top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

There are much more serious conflicts in the world than the itsy bitsy teeny weeny skirmishes here on SZ.

Hi Chas,
eek, you've got me on that pedistal again. haahaa
Still here, just a bit less active. Boring the poor PA800/Pa2X forum members instead, with my endless chatter. haahaa.

best wishes
Rikki

Oh stop being modest; 'pedEstals' become you. Your only flaw; not using spellcheck .

PS: Just didn't want you to think you were immune from the occasional elbow .

Hi Chas,
bigger flaw, was not noticing the spell check icon. haahaa

I normally google a word I'm not sure of.
Did that & forgot to alter the spelling.

You've just saved me a lot of wasted time looking up words via google.
