For those interested in the H4 because of overdubbing capabilities, be aware that any overdub has to be top to bottom, one take. There's no punch in or out.

Not all that useful, IMO...

great for my out of studio on stage recording needs. Neutrik inputs make it so easy to plug things in or use as a PC audio interface also. USB & extra 4 multi tracks recording capabilities if needed. Easy to use too.I love this little thing......

Got my H-2 yesterday...neat little toy I can use for my day-work. Comes with a cool little mike stand adapter, which is a shaft that screws into the threaded mount on the bottom. Perfect for one-on-one interviews...just set it on stereo and use the adapter shaft to hold the device, with each person talking into their side.

I'll record the trio acoustically (on-board mikes) this week-end, and then record me on arranger-guitar-vocals next week. I'll just line out of the PA, since everything goes thru it.

I think my H2 is my favorite purchase from last year...

After using an H4 extensively, I found I was never using any of the capabilities it has over the H2, and with the H2's form factor, better mikes, lower price and especially the date stamping ability (easy to find a file by searching for the date!), it made better sense for me.

I use the H2 also. Great unit.
How do you use the data stamping?
Can't figure it out.

In the manual....(p.78). You simply set the time and date. From that time onwards, ALL files are automatically stamped with the date of creation.

Easy.

And pretty important, as you end up with a bunch of files from different sessions all called exactly the same thing, like STE_001.wav and you don't have time to label them all. Just figure out what day you recorded them on (or month!) and Bob's yer' uncle!

By the way, when you record, do you record as a wav. file or midi?
I usually use midi.

I hope you're planning to share some of those recordings ...
I played a couple of gigs with my son on bass when he was in high school .. what a thrill ... unfortunately he stopped playing when he went to college ... ...

I hope you are talking about just general arranger demos from home... (I posted about this recently). Because the Zoom H2 only records audio

If I record audio, it's usually .wav 24bit 44.1kHz rate, unless I;m trying to record a whole afternoon (got a 4GB card in it)

If I'm working on something at home, whether for a full production OR just for a snippet for the Roland-arranger.com website (all of my arranger demos get posted there), I pretty near always use the built-in Recorder (MIDI only) in the G70. Or Cubase for a full production number. But unless I'm live at a gig, I'll rarely record audio only. I'll track both at the same time (use the sequencer while the Zoom is recording) sometimes for really quick noodles, but it's so easy to simply hit 'Record' on the G70, I usually do it. Now I have an audio ready to go if things work out perfectly (rare! ) and an SMF if I find I need to edit a bit (or a lot ).

But I HOPE you weren't asking whether I use the Zoom to capture MIDI I KNOW you know you can't do that!

Tony, so far, it's just the Russ Lay trio, since I've been doing this for so long, and I have sort of taken up the slack for a friend of mine who booked himself as the "*****" trio for the better part of 30 years.

I was a part of the old trio, and when my friend died, I got all the calls. We specialize in doing parties for horse farm owners. I may change the name, but we're still not where I need the group to be...getting there, but still in the "fine tuning" stage. A 63 year old on guitar and piano, with a 30 year old bass player and an 18 year old drummer? A lot of the material is older than some of the players!
