Yamaha PSR S500 - 10/24/08 04:24 AM

Just bought a PSR S500 (couldn't afford a 900 yet). For the price, I think it's amazing. Only seem to be able to load 1 style at a time into from memory stick though and it takes a long time to load each one. Still really happy with it though and I've owned Tyros, KN7000 and G70 in the past.

I can agree I bought the s700 and like you said, for the price, and my needs, what an amazing keyboard.
Good luck and enjoy it.

Did you know there's a replacement for the S-500 that's set to release VERY soon. http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMPSRS550
It's not much more than the S-500 and WAY less than the S-900.

The S-550's features really stand out against the S-500. Such as 64 note poly, 16 trk seq, and a style creator... It's a good bargain compared to the S-500.

Just something you might want to consider if you're still within a reasonable return period for the S-500.

Yes thanks. I saw that but money doesn't allow at the moment. Hoping to buy a 900 in December when money's a bit more available. Just sold my G70 case it was really heavy and I'm getting older all the time. The 500 obviously isn't up to the same standard of features as the Roland but is really light, has good styles and voices and I can download new styles for songs where there isn't a suitable one on the keyboard already. I'm just a chord player using arranger backings or chording over midis but my playing is improving all the time.

By the way, downloaded a 'gig disk' the other day (was it from someone called Gary) and the Brown Eyed Girl style was fantastic. I love that song. Thanks for the style. Much appreciated.

That was Gary Diamond...he does some awesome gig disks for the Yamaha arrangers.

That is a great style.
