Please visit my new website! - 10/07/08 08:10 PM

I finally have a website after many years of procrastination. www.larrylevinmusic.com . Please visit it. There's not much that I can do with the "look" of the website. I have to get some pictures of me performing up very soon.

Soon, I will have a CD for sale available and a video.

I hope some of you can listen to my demos. Of most interest to you would be my solos at the bottom of the demo page.

I like the endorsement page, that if you click on an endorsement, you get an actual pdf of the letter that was mailed to me.

Anyway, I hope you like it. I have seen better Yamaha performers on youtube, but I hope that I might come across as a little bit impressive.

Beaky Congrats, very nice website.
I can certainly see why you perform 400+ gigs a year..!

Good Luck with it.

btw....."Hey Good Looking" wasn't working?
& isnt that song titled "Your 16" vs "She's 16" ?

Beakybird,

Just took a quick look at your site. Nice job with it, great home page. I like the city of Chicago background, give it a rich look. I'll revisit and listen to the demos tomorrow, it's getting late and got to be up at 5 AM. BTW, I noticed you played at the Library in Barrington, been there in 1976 to visit with some family, as I recall it's a nice town. We had some great deep dish Chicago pizza at a place called Kelsey's.

Cool website! I think you should add more pictures on the picture gallery page to enliven it a bit. The demo page, on the other hand, has plenty of songs to choose from.

Larry, nice site, good demos ...
Do you use on board styles, SMF's, or a combination of both ?
Is that an 'on board' harmonizer?

Beaky

Very proffessional, pleasing to the eye, and wonderful navigation. Many web sites are way to busy & clutered, In my opinion yours is tuned in very well for your perspective audience.

Until you get some pictures of you performing, why not post some pctures of where you have perfomed and replace them as time goes on.

I was not able to listen to all of your demos. What I heard was very good indeed. She's 16 is the last one I was able to hear.

Another suggestion might be add a little info on the keyboard and other equipment you utilze.

using firefox on a dsl connection I was not able to load a demo and the homepage never finished loading either. The Demo would start buffering get to 2% and then stick there.
I waited a couple of minutes, in fact a couple of minutes longer than I would have if it wasn't a 'zoner. I tried it at two different times this morning.

I did finally get the homepage to load but I had to hit refresh a couple of times.
Not complaining just reporting my experience.
It does look nice though.

Hey Larry. Man, was wondering what took so long for you to finally get your website up. The result was definitely worth the wait though. Impressive homepage shot of you with the Chicago sky line back drop

It's obvious how popular & in demand you are in the Chicago senior market with your enthusiasticly friendly upbeat vocal style & live kb playing to match. The Yamaha PSR3000 sounds great under the control of your fingers. My favorites among your diverse selection of demo songs are: "You Gotta Have Heart" and "Johnny B. Goode".

Scott

OT: I'm currently working on a themed song show project featuring songs about US cities and destinations (*), with "Chicago" among them. I recently heard Judy Garland's version in which the lyrics mention classic Chicago landmarks like :

The Pump Room, Amabassador East Hotel, Marshall Fields, Mrs O'Leary's Cow. The lyrics also make mention of: Shish-Kebab and Squab. Might these dishes (in addition to deep dish pizza) be classic Chicago dining specialties as well?

* Selected US Cities/Destinations Songs:
Chicago (Toddling Town)
Old Cape Cod
Georgia On My Mind
Moon Over Miami
Indiana (Back Home Again)
Deep In The Heart Of Texas
Oklahoma
New York State Of Mind
Rocky Mountain High
North To Alaska
Hawaiian Sunset
Viva Las Vegas
Celluloid Heroes (Hollywood)
I Left My Heart In San Francisco

Good job Beaky. Too bad more people here don't follow suit and showcase their work

Thank you so much for the replies.

Yeah, I better get some pictures quick. I'm going to start bringing my camera to my shows.

I corrected the song title to "You're Sixteen." And I fixed "Hey Good Lookin'" so that works.

Tony asks: Do you use on board styles, SMF's, or a combination of both ?
Is that an 'on board' harmonizer?

All demos are done from style files. Not all styles are on board. They are from all over the place, mostly from Yamaha keyboards.

I am using the vocal harmonizer that comes with the PSR-S900. It's limited, but I have found a couple of settings that work pretty well.

Stephenm52, yes, Barrington is a great town. I get the impression that the people there are very wealthy. It has a country feel, horse stables and everything, but it's only an hour to downtown.

Scott, some things that are typically Chicagoan are kosher hot dogs, deep dish pizza, Frango Mints.

I hope you can come some time. There is an architectural tour where you take a boat down the Chicago River through the business district. There are some amazing skyscrapers here.

I would like to hear from people who have trouble loading my demos. I can't load the demos in Netscape Navigator.

The people who made the website told me that it is advantageous that the videos and mp3s will open up in the website instead of with Media Player, but the disadvantage is that maybe a potential client won't be able to hear my demo!

Thank you for visiting!

Re: Please visit my new website! - 10/08/08 04:41 PM

If it were me I'd add a link to each demo so it could be downloaded. I'd rather download a demo and play it on my own than use a web based player.
My ad blocker may be the reason I can't load any of your demos. I'll try it on one of my other machines later.
