Roland E-80 - 07/20/08 12:33 AM

Is the E-80 the replacement for the G70? I can't find anything about price or availabiltiy on the internet. How much and who is selling them?

No, it's not a replacement. It has 61 keys, internal speaker and improved functions.

I live in the Dallas - Fort Worth area - and when I did a dealer search for the E-80 not one single store came up. The nearest place is Oklahoma City(175 Miles away) and the guy at the store just laughed when I spoke with him. Doesn't seem like Roland is very anxious to sell these.

I am the only store listed in Los Angeles for the E-80 and I don't stock one! First, they are too big! I also think that Roland has not done a good job of promoting there arrangers the past few years. There used to be two divisions of Roland, MI and CK but Roland changed the CK division last year to just sell the big Organs. The rest of the line, digital pianos and E series keyboards came over the the MI line. Since then, there's just not the excitement being displayed for Roland products at least in my area. I used to get a few calls from potential customers who might like to try the E80, but except for the E50 and E60, I've just not had much luck selling E80's. Most of these customers walk out with either a Yamaha or Korg if they are serious. I think mostly it's about the style content at least in my area. Just not enough for my customers who like a lot of excitement within the style.

George, arrangers must be the bottom of the profit pole for Roland? Sad ;(

Donny, I would hazard a guess that on a per unit basis, the arrangers for Yamaha and Roland are very profitable.

Whereas the "Pro" divisions, being much more cut-throat, have the costs cut to the bone.

Why on earth a Motif ES 6 was about $2k cheaper than the Tyros 2, (and probably the same margin will be on the T3)-v-Motif XS, is beyond my figuring???

But then Korg are the same, look at the price of the M3 compared to the PA2xpro..

I guess as long as people don't mind getting gouged, and the arranger market (in the US) remains so small it will always be so. It is the same out here too, arranger market is very small.
